In Chain Reaction we used to have a lot of trouble with our members joining attacks on wall targets at the same time, wasting valuable energy. Rainbowsaurus came up with a script idea, which I wrote up, to solve the problem. I think the results speak for themselves (with many thanks to our wall partners). Our last chain before dibs:
The script is simple, but it requires wide adoption from a faction to be effective. It replaces each Attack button on the faction page with a Dibs button. Whichever dibs user clicks the dibs button on a target first will have it replaced with the attack button. They have dibs on the target for 30 seconds. If anyone else using the script clicks the dibs button in that 30 seconds, they'll get a "Nope!" message instead of the attack button. This way, only one dibs user will attack a wall target at a time. Of course, it cannot prevent someone who's not using the script from joining the fight.
While you can install scripts on firefox mobile for android, mobile users cannot otherwise use dibs. We've found it helpful to have desktop users help mobile attackers by getting dibs for them and sending attack links.
Happy faction warring!
Troubleshooting
Often, issues with Dibs can be resolved by: * Checking that the Dibs script is enabled by left clicking on the Tampermonkey icon from the faction page and checking that there is a green switch next to "Dibs" * Restarting your browser * Restarting your computer
Chrome users may need to grant extra permissions (tip courtesy of Flowey). If you're having trouble getting dibs working, you may need to: 1) Right click on tampermonkey icon. 2) Select "This can read and change data" 3) "On all sites".
Welcome, my lucky 15! Sorry for having you tied up and blindfolded, but I wanted to make this location a surprise. You see, we're about to arrive at SuperFunAwesome-Land, my personal amusement park. And the thing is, I don't want you to go home and tell your friends about this place. Can you imagine how long the lines would be then? Heh. Well, my amusement park has all the wonders you could imagine! Roller coasters, ring toss, a ferris wheel. Oh, and the funnel cake is to die for!
Thought I'd share a handy script I wrote up recently. You can find it at https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/33347-profile-info. It adds a collapsible panel to profile pages that you can use to tag players with a difficulty (easy, medium, or impossible a la WarBaseExtended) and keep notes on players. A picture is worth a thousand words, so here are some illustrative screenshots.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any issues/questions/suggestions.
Edit: Added information to the panel title, as suggested by miros [1848626] using some code contributed by him.
Edit 2: Added the age of the difficulty rating to the panel header in 0.6. Any ratings made before 0.6 will show as (automatic). If you change the difficulty to something else and back, the rating time will be stored and displayed as (0 days ago).
Edit 3: Added an import/export feature in 0.7. Please be advised that import will overwrite your existing notes. So please for the love of god do an export first and save it somewhere before you try importing anything. If you manage to screw everything up, you can import {} and that will reset your notes.
Given recent events, I think it's worth clarifying that I will never share nor take advantage of the dibs data submitted by this script. In fact, I've gone out of my way to assign random ids to script users instead of using torn ids to identify people so as to use as little identifying information as possible.
I would encourage people to take a look through the script (or get a coder friend to) and turn off auto-updating if you're concerned that a malicious update could be pushed. Unless torn changes in such a way that I have to make updates to the script, I will make sure that older versions continue to work properly.
Not sure, but I would guess no. In addition to GM_xmlhttpRequest, dibs also uses GM_setValue, GM_getValue, and the unsafeWindow grant (to get access to who's on the wall). That said, there's no harm in trying it out to see.
You're probably wondering why I brought you here. You lot have been selected for your courage. For your skill. For your dedication. But most importantly, for your deep dark secrets. Don't worry, I won't tell! I'm gonna give you guys a month in the park, and then afterwards, let you guys split 100 million dollars. You can all ride the rides and play the games for that month, and then split the cash 15-ways. But just in case there are a few of you who want a bigger cut of the dough, well, I've given you all parcels. Some will be really lethal, and some are as deadly as a box of tissues. Good luck and see you later!
