An option to smuggle an extra of 5 items while travelling (or maybe 10 if it is not too much) for 5 (other wise 10) nerve. Smuggling includes risk of being caught on return by officials at the travel agency or even on the airstrip who can then be bribed with an unspecified amount. The risk of capture and the bribe can be directly proportional to the Torn City Item Market RRP of the items being smuggled multiplied by the number of items being smuggled.
Bribing may fail due to the amount being too low compared to the RRP of the items times number of items smuggled or the player may not have cash on hand to bribe and then may choose to surrender or run away. Successfully running away results in only the smuggled items being seized while failing a run-away results in all transported items being seized with hospital time. Surrendering results in the smuggled items being seized with a proportional jail time.
Successful smuggling gets CE (maybe count towards honor / merits). Seized items are sold off at the pawn shop/docks for a price much lower than the item market RRP but slightly higher than the original price to buy at the country of origin. It would be a first come first serve at the selling point. This would enable low-level players to get access to flowers/plushies and other smuggled high value goods. Spawn rates of items at foreign locations and capture risk of smuggling might have to worked out.
Additional suggestions
Drugs (maybe even weapons) are declared illegal for transport and can only be smuggled from points of origin. This could add a more realistic dimension and incentivize the use of cans etc.
Items can be categorized as low-risk and high risk with a proportional amount of faction respect generated from successful smuggling by members, especially if drugs/weapons become illegal.
Members of factions with higher criminality/excursion points could have a lower risk of being caught and can escape easily (in comparison) by bribing or running away.
Would like to know what you guys think of it.
Thanks to Your_Gfs_Sister and Eferial for their inputs
Thank you for that response. I also have EUR - USD exchange issues and recently the rate has been volatile. I am sticking to local ETFs or now but I suppose that things may not be this volatile post winter (Feb - Mar 2023). Might move a chunk of investments into USD denominated ETFs at that point.
No home yet personally but that was a choice since I feel like I might move around a bit and maybe do some higher education. Otherwise my savings cushion has been built up so I am looking forward to invest more.
Well, I have some Bitcoin from that list. Never really looked outside the top M.Cap blockchain tokens. I do have miniscule holdings in some DeFi tokens but that is it.
I don't think that investing in crypto is easier. I was thinking that stock index investing or buying REITs are easier. I will look into real estate though. Thank you for the reply, will have a chat when I do decide on a course of action.
Honestly no idea how to respond to this but I will say that I want to learn about the history of Graffiti and street art. It would be too hard to chronicle and understand every little thing but it is a topic that interests me. It is not 'traditional' art history though.
On the more traditional side, I have been reading a bit about how art historians were the reason why heritage conservation came about. Like the ideas of Alois Reigl and how the idea of 'value' came into play.
I have liked the idea of being an index investor I am still a stock picker but then I was living in India till recently and there it is very much a stock pickers market.
I have an SIP running into a mixed index of top US stocks and Indian stocks. VWRP looks like a good option but I am now thinking of finding some thematic funds. With all the recent shortage in semiconductors etc., it looked like an opportunity but I haven't decided anything and in fact am finding it hard to decide if I should look for some thematic funds.
I have been trying to learn and understand Crypto / DeFI space too but that has been hard.
Maybe real estate at least through REITs and thematic funds might be an option, apart from looking into direct real estate.
Thank you for the response. I don't think I am confident handling real estate yet. On the one hand, it takes up time and on the other hand I need to be able to handle some legalese. I have been looking to buy some property though, just learning about what all to look for as of now.
I am not sure where to put this so I am asking here in General non-related. I have been a regular stock market investor for a while. Tried my hand at some positional trading and found that it took away too much of my time so stuck to SIPs and investing.
I am in Europe now so I am more interested in investment philosophies / ideas from people who have bank accounts in Europe. I am not averse to crypto but I wouldn't call myself comfortable with it. I do hold some BTC and ETH and an assortment of coins / tokens. Not a significant portion of my investments though. Not a big fan of meme stocks either, never held them probably will never hold one even for fun.
Bonds in Europe don't seem like an option so stocks and real-estate it is. Which markets look attractive to you? Where are you putting your money and if possible any rationale?
Since you mentioned not being exposed to classics, may I suggest
"To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee and "Gone with the Wind" by Margaret Mitchell.
If you have read these two then may I suggest "Scarlett" by Alexandra Ripley which was intended as a sequel to Gone with the Wind and "Go set a Watchman" again by Harper Lee which is a sort of 'precursor' for "To Kill a Mockingbird"..
This would be a clear break from Stephen King's style and cover some essential classics in my opinion.
If you would rather do some lighter reading then maybe Jane Austen books or stuff like "The Scarlet Pimpernel" by Baroness Orczy or even "The Tale of Two cities" by Charles Dickens might be more entertaining.
