Doesn't understand economics and is also a huge bitch.
Does anyone else think the marriage situation in this city is conspicuously and inexcusably heteronormative??
Answer
You guys should consider adding a political system where players could run for mayor or comptroller or other positions and be elected by a ballot. There could be annual elections in Torn, and to get on the ticket, players would have to petition and gather signatures just like in real life.
From there, the various positions could confer little additional powers like being able to pardon a few people from long prison sentences. That way, players would want to campaign for friends running for high office to be close to those in power. And with convincing people to vote there is plenty of room for dirty politics and corruption.
There could also be polls and favorability ratings for those in office, and if somebody fell out of favor there could be impeachments before the term ended.

I think these survey results speak to the hostility that the equal marriage movement in Torn still faces. I'm currently studying toward a Bachelor of Law here to help fight for equal protection.
