Farmer here. as of the moment I have three different types of ivermectin in my house. All three of them where purchased at my local farm store(farm and home) and needed no vet prescription. I have the livestock pour on, the livestock injectable and the infamous "horse paste". the livestock ones are used on cows and pigs and the horse paste is for my horse and rabbit. I do not currently give it to my dogs, though it can be given to them. One dog is heartworm positive and the other one is a border collie with the possible MRD1 gene that I am waiting on results to come in for, ivermectin kills heartworms and can cause a heart blockage and MRD1 is a terrible genetic condition. the ivermectin you get from a doctor is NOT the same as the kind you can buy at a farm store.
if you go to a doctor and got ivermectin to help treat after covid symptoms and you felt better then covid wasn't your only problem. you had a parasitic infection that was also probably kicking your a$$ along with the covid.
in the agricultural industry its pretty common to worm a a sick animal regardless if they have an active visible case of parasites. being sick can cause certain parasites to flare up and harm the host. this is realistically why SOME people feel better after being given ivermectin during and after a case of covid.
I do NOT recommend doing this AT ALL unless a test was taken for determining a parasite load. Anti-parasitic resistance is real and is only going to get worse the more we abuse them.
