I am writing this post to try and gauge the general opinion on attacking online players and to satisfy my huge curiosity when it comes to the psychological and motivational aspects of player interactions.
The background is of course what probably all Torn citizen have experienced - you have just set up a trade, are succeeding with the highest ranking crime ever or finishing a mission - just to find your page suddenly loading at a very slow pace, the hospital chat icon appearing at the bottom of your screen and the little red cross then appearing at the top of the side bar - "Hospitalized by someone".
As I have understood from chats and forum posts, rather than being a newbie experience, this tends to happen even to level 92 players :-) Hence, training is great but far from a guarantee :-)
Now, taking the general crime, training and fighting concept of Torn into account, it is hardly surprising that one can expect to get mugged, hospitalized or left in the street by someone. Lately, a few questions have been stirring, though.
First of all, do attackers generally consider whether the players that are attacked are online or not?
Which factors influence the decision to attack an online player?
If someone has beef, if you have been bountied, if you have been mugged and trying to get even - well I guess those are quite good reasons for attacking someone, whether they are online or not but what about players with no previous interactions?
Are there any unwritten rules when it comes to faction wars?
I am very intrigued by the psychological aspects of the player interactions and decision making, so I am hoping to get lots of answers and enlightening debate from all Torn citizens that might have an interest in these questions and others that I might not have formulated yet - so looking forward to hearing from traders, muggers, faction members, and good old regular Torn crime artists alike, along with all the rest of you happy tax payers, of course :-)
When I logged in today I saw that a dirty bomb had been used and now all facilities in the city seem to be closed. Being a relatively new player I was wondering if some of my experienced or simply brighter co-players could explain what that dirty bomb does, why would a faction use it and any historic facts on the lockdown of the city :-)

Enhancers can be bought on the market and are supposed to help succeed in the crimes. I would like to ask whether the enhancers need to be equipped (like melee weapons) to be able to benefit from them when doing the crimes or if simply owning them confers the improved success rate?
I recently heard about revival or reviving factions and would like to get to know a bit more about the subject. Could someone please explain the most basic concepts of reviving factions? How are they distinguished from other factions? Do members of reviving factions war and get hosped just a much as members of other factions? Which advantages and drawback are there?
All information will be much appreciated by a newly inaugurated reviver :)
We all know that owning a bonus block entitles you to receiving special bonuses like EDVDs, health packs etc. I have been wondering if owning more stocks than what the bonus block contains will increase your chances of receiving the bonuses? Maybe someone has some experience with it :)
Taking time on regular basis to reflect on one's priorities in life is both very important and a practice that commands respect in my opinion. Some people do so in silence while others feel better when they can tell others about their reflections. That is simply the diversity of human nature. No matter which achievements people may have attained in this game, they have been part of our community. My own activity has been variable during the 7 years I have been part of Torn and I feel privileged to have been part of companies and - first and foremost - my faction, who have been kind and understanding when real life events did not allow me to log in as often as I would like to. I am grateful for the online friends I have made in here and for being able to contribute and continue to enjoy the relaxation 15 minutes of gameplay entails when I come home from a long day at work. Balance is important. A game should be fun and relaxing rather than stressful.
With that I would like to wish AlexSmithfan the best of luck with your future endeavours and hope you will find more peace in life. If you should choose to return to Torn or another online gaming community at some point, I am sure you will be more than welcome.

Some time back I believe I read that the ability to revive people from hospital is permanent, even after quitting a hospital job. Does anyone have experience with this?
It appears that if you sell a propertry to the estate agent you will get 75% of the price of a new base property. Therefore, when selling to the estate agent it does not take any property upgrades into account.
