After nine months in the Colorado Rocky Mountains we drove back down South to visit with family and friends. We were 'in town' for close to three weeks bouncing around from Arkansas to Tennessee to Mississippi saying hello and goodbye before we headed off again. At about 9:30 Thursday night (April 14th) we left Memphis with the van packed, pointed east toward the nation's capital to see what we could see and join the march. I drove all night through Tennessee in the pouring rain, kept going into Virginia while Kaila slept, switched seats with her early in the morning and took a nap while she drove. Somewhere around 8:30 in the morning we pulled off into a State Park in Rural Retreat, Virginia to get some sleep. We set up our little dome tent near a tree stump and slept 'till about 2:00. From there we drove the rest of the way to Maryland and decided to rent a room near Washington D.C. since there were no campsites in the area....
