Are there any upcoming group attacks planned?

I debated whether or not I should speak up here, especially since I'm clearly a member of the despised Pink Power team, but I have something to say.

Last year, I was a member of Pink Power as a noob. We all started out not thinking we had much of a chance, but with organization and team work, to our surprise, we made it to 4th place. I'm not here to win, I'm here to enjoy myself. I really enjoyed Elim last year, even though we didn't win. I made lasting friends through PP. Some of us even decided that we wanted to make sure to remain in touch, so one of the team members renamed her faction for us and we joined it.

This year, I joined again, hoping to recapture that camaraderie and fun. It was never going to be the same - I know that now. But what I did not expect was an influx of men. That didn't really bother me. I thought, hey, cool, with this many people, we don't have to be underdogs this year....

No, what bothers me is the influx of inappropriate and belittling comments towards women and trans people that seems to have followed them here. What bothers me is the excessive trash talk and bravado that made everyone else hate us. Do I think the gender-swappers were cheating? No, not really. Do I think the gender-swappers were contrary to the spirit of Pink Power? Yes, actually.

A part of me is glad that this whole issue is scandalous, because as others have mentioned, us female players (of any game, honestly) get a raw deal to begin with. So this trespass on what should be a ladies only team is just another disheartening event that we have to deal with.

That said, I feel the punishment does not match the crime. Sure, the Schadenfreude of this whole thing might be a bit amusing, but the ultimate result is that those of us in PP who came here to have fun can no longer have that thanks to a non-representative population of people on our team who took an unorthodox gamble to gain an edge.

All told, I'm not angry, just disappointed. I loved my experience last year, not because the game was perfect, but because of the people I bonded with. year.

Honestly, I'm no longer interested in whether or not PP succeeds or fails. I'd frankly love the option to just leave the team and move on with my game. Sink the ship already, don't leave it languishing in the current.

Stealers Wheel said it best: "Clowns to the left of us, jokers to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle with you."

At the end of the day, it seems to me that errors were most definitely made, by those on both sides of this issue. Errors that have destroyed any chance of fun for those of us caught in the middle. That includes those in PP who were giving their all, those eliminated already after giving their all, and those that will be eliminated even though they're giving it their all.

May I tell you a story from one gamer to another?

About 7 years ago, newly graduated from college, I was still getting slack from my parents that I needed to do more with my life than 'play games all the time'. In my opinion playing games is superior than watching TV all evening like they do, but that's beside the point. That's when I came across an awesome idea - A gaming marathon for charity. There was a little known organization called Extra Life founded in 2008 in honor of an awesome gamer girl named Tori who lost her battle with Leukemia. That year they began with a little over 1000 gamers in Texas raising money for the hospital that had cared for her.

Then in 2011, (the year I discovered it) they partnered with the Children's Miracle Network to help gamers all over the US and Canada give back to their communities. Since I started participating, it has changed my life - and that's not hyperbole. I've met so many awesome fellow Extra Life gamers, and so many awesome kids who have been through hell and back and somehow keep smiling.

I'm so passionate about this whole thing because I already knew so many people whose lives had been saved by my local children's hospital, myself included. In fact, when the program's founder visited my city in 2013, he was so impressed with my enthusiasm, he chose me to lead as a local president of the Extra Life Guild test program. There were only three guilds that year, and now there are more than 75. I digress...

The thing is, I've been so awfully busy with the guild and helping other people to raise money for the kids, that I haven't done so great myself. Game day is in a little over 3 weeks and I'm nowhere near my fundraising goal. That's where you come in. Go to the link to my fundraising page and donate what you can. The money we raise through Extra Life not only helps pay for treatments for sick and injured kids whose families can't afford it, but it also sustains quality of life programs for these kids. Things like Art and Music therapy, on-site gaming rooms at the hospital, and even fun holiday events for kids and their families that help healing along by keeping their spirits up.

Why should you care about donating money to a hospital that might be halfway around the world? Because each and every CMN hospital also improve the lives of children all over the world when they develop new and wonderful procedures and practices to share with the world. For example, the first Polio vaccine was developed at my hospital - It's just one example of something that has saved millions of lives.

Going for actual practicality instead of humor here. Maybe you'll learn you a thing or two. If discovery channel has taught me nothing else, I know I will require the following three items:

1.) Machete:
A versatile cutting implement is number one in the five C's of survival, and likely the most important. Bushwhackers need something with which to whack bushes.

2.) Wind-Proof Lighter:
A combustion device is number two on the five C's. Being able to have a fire is very important for warmth, protection, and even food and water safety.

3.) Parachute:
A three in one for the last of the five C's - Cordage (you'll have to tie things together sooner or later, and paracord is very strong), Container (can be used to create a satchel to keep your things safe and dry), and Cover (can be used as a tarp/tent to help keep weather at bay).
