Bogie expressed a willingness to revisit punishment guidelines. So here we go.
Yet another slap on the wrist for a well established player that obviously had to have known better. I'm not gonna go into him beyond that as I don't care about the individual. This isn't the first time it has happened and I doubt it will be the last.
As it stands the punishments seem to work fine for noobs that didn't know bette. Multies in particular, aren't necessarily an obvious thing you aren't allowed to do(most people never read the rules no matter how many times you make people click a button that says they did) since in most games it is perfectly fine if not encouraged. Many of them probably did know better but I think it's fair to give these the benefit of the doubt. These 5, 10, 15 year old accounts however don't deserve shit. They know exactly what they were doing. They have been watching cheaters get slapped on the wrist and sent back into the game for over a decade. For these people it isn't a mistake or something they trip on. It is a calculated decision they are making because the worst case scenario for a first time cheater is that they lose the ill gotten gains.
One thing that has constantly bugged me almost the entire time I have played torn is that multies are objectively worth it even when factoring in punishments. The only thing to stop people from cheating is morality and for those people, the punishments don't matter because they would never do it to begin with. You get 1 crack at cheating with no meaningful consequences or even as this latest case showed 1 crack at each different type of cheating. The only real risk in cheating is that staff might be inconsistent but ironically this seems to be the only aspect where staff actually is consistent instead of just talking about how consistent they are.
I just want to let that sink in for a second. In torn, it is objectively worth it to try your hand at cheating once.
I think you there should be a line drawn at some age or activity level where there is no longer any doubt that they knew exactly what they are doing and once you cross that threshold the punishment should be perma fed or if you really have to give people more chances, simply reset their account. Taking away the gains is not enough, short bans are not enough.
What do you think?

We are all just peasants. Pen owns the cache farm.
After months of waiting to match CR and not, we finally said f**k it and sent our people out to cache farm. Then of course week 1 we match CR.
It's just whoever was around in NS getting participation.
Something tells me if this were successful that it would just get a fee added to bazzars.

torn is in texas
What are you doing to the people around you that you can't even conceive of someone earning what they got?
I'm the most senior most jewbanker in NS. No one is spending NS money on themselves. That's why we have trillion dollar+ armories.
Pen almost certainly spent money being in NS. We make plenty now so everything is paid for but that wasn't always the case and it's people like Pen who put in.
I normally don't like to pile on you because you get plenty but f**k off.
All I hear is that the family is going to Chicago this year.
Not better than the current situation, maybe better than pawn shop.
But if the pawn shop was removed because of money supply reasons. Then obviously they arent going to implement a solution that makes the money supply issue worse to deal with the side effects of removing the pawn shop.
Adding something to spend points on is a good idea if you want point prices to go up. But it shouldn't be anything currently available at a vendor. Something new would be massively preferable.
If you look only at that transaction, yes. But if you zoom out there is a finite supply of non nikeh SEs. So if you buy one from the market that will cause a different person to buy from nikehs.
Removing non nikeh SE sources would be another way to decrease the money supply if you wanted more ways.
The amount removed from the money supply is not the value of a point.
The cash being destroyed by points has nothing to do with points being used. The cash is destroyed when the flyers buy plushies from the vendors overseas not when the points are used. The amount destroyed is about $3k per point.
Printing new money is not the only way to increase the money supply.
Convincing a player to buy 1 SE with points instead of buying it from nikehs is preventing that player from destroying 450m. That has the same effect on the money supply as printing 450m new money.
there are 3 worlds
A) Old system with the pawn shop
B) Current system with no pawn shop and falling points prices
C) Your world with trading points for SEs
In each world, a person decides to do an SE.
In world A the person buys an SE from nikehs and 450m is removed from the game.(-450m to the money supply)
In world B the person buys an SE from nikehs and 450m is removed from the game.(-450m to the money supply)
in world C however, the person buys the SE from the point shop with 10k points, 30m is removed from the game.(-30m to the money supply)
Relative to both world A and B, world C would increase the money supply by 420m every time someone used the points for SE.
Before:
That $5k is just not remotely accurate. That is the profit per set, not the amount of money added to the economy.
The $445k traders buy sets for is not what is spent on the plushies buying them from the game.
The amount destroyed in this process is however much it costs to buy a plushy set from the game not how much they are worth on the market.
$45k was created per point and like 3k was destroyed in the process from buying plushies from vendors overseas. For a net of about $42k printed per point.
Here:
You divert people who were about to light 450m on fire at nikehs and have them instead light 10k points on fire
10k points would destroy about 30m(~3k per point) from the economy vs 450m buying an SE from nikeh
Having a person spend points to buy an SE takes away from them buying it for 450m from nikehs which destroys the money.
So this has the same effect on the cash supply as the pawn shop did. It just prevents 450m from being burned instead of creating a new 450m.
I guess admitting Israel exists but should be destroyed is a marginal improvement.
Excellent demonstration of my point that Palestinians haven't accepted defeat, thanks for that.
To be clear, my point wasnt that Israel exclusively is a dick. Its not like the palestinians hands are clean. Israel is just several orders of magnitude better at defending itself.
I understand why palestinians feel the way they do. Id probably feel similarly but that doesnt make the emotional desire productive.
If Israel doesn't exist then sure much of what you say makes sense.
If Israel does exist then they are a nation that goes too far in pursuit of defending itself against enemies who openly speak of their destruction.
Pretty clear which you are since it seems you cant even say the word Israel, but please correct me if im wrong.
In case my position wasnt clear, I think Israel exists. They conquered Palestinian's land in 1948. A significant number of palestinians cannot accept this defeat and continue to fight which has devolved largely into terrorist attacks on Israel. Israel has done many awful things in response to those attacks. This ongoing conflict between the palestinians who choose to fight on and Israel has left the rest of the palestinians in horrible conditions. Should Israel have been founded? Maybe not, but that ship has sailed.
If you want to fight my actual positions, have at it. But so far mostly you are just fighting some zionist caricature you have going on in your head.
I haven't really promoted anything. IDF has done many terrible things but none of them are offenses unique to them. I just don't cherry pick facts like you. When someone wants to donate an army for 20-100 years to inforce international law across the board I'll happily sign. But I'm not gonna sit here and say 1 side should follow laws while the other celebrates breaking those same laws.
West bank doesn't have much directly to do with it other than gaza distracts from it. Which imo is the where the majority of the real marks against Israel come from. Hamas is an obvious security threat and no one is going to stop Israel from doing what they feel they need to defend themselves. and it provides a convenient excuse for Israel to do whatever they want in the westbank. Eventually Israel will annex it and over night 90% of what palestinians COULD have will be off the table forever.
If I'm a short zionist retard, what does that make you? A tall terrorist mastermind?
