Woo-hoo!  That was the first and only hit I landed too.  Though now I feel super bad for the people who've been trying so much with so little luck.  I'm clearly unexpectedly skilled at wild flailing.

You sent a Bottle of Champagne to Daisy3 with the message: Your flailing was worthy of celebration. Very flaily.

For what it's worth, if you have any questions or if there's anything that's unclear, definitely always feel free to ask us in this thread. As I think you've seen already, there are lots of us that would be happy to help explain things. A lot of us have played together before, and that can mean sometimes we take for granted that what we're saying will be clear to everybody. But I can totally understand how these games would be a lot to take in for a newcomer and sometimes we can toss around a lot of terminology, etc.

In general, the most important things are to use your ability to try to be helpful (especially please try to use it every night if you're an investigator or can protect other people - though DON'T tell us now if you are/aren't), and not to say anything in this thread that would give away what your ability/role is unless there's a really good reason to. If it's getting close to the end of the day and you have the most votes to be lynched I would strongly suggest you tell us what your role is, but otherwise keep it as a closely guarded secret.

If you do happen to have an investigative role, I would suggest not saying anything about what you find out unless you find a baddie. In that case, tell us right away. I only mention this part because it's something new players are uncertain about sometimes, and I've seen it cause real problems for the Town. It can be hard to know what to do when you can't ask anybody anything specific.

Whatever your role is, if you have questions about how to use it, you might also be able to ask Hellcat or MrLuna privately. You're allowed to ask them things outside this thread since they're running the game, and they might be able to help. At worst, they'll just tell you if they can't.

Welcome to the game. :)

Good game everybody!  Lots of fun!  I figured it was more fun to trust my cop-cleared neighbour anyway, but the confirmation of Drew seeing Jhay as a Hider made me stop second-guessing his alignment entirely. Well played!

The first one or two Dune books were really good, yeah. I thought Ender's Game was great too, in terms of classic sci fi that's classic for good reason.

I'm actually just fine with lower-fantasy worlds as well, I'm just not usually as big on urban fantasy or our-world-but-with-magic stuff (with a few exceptions), and the "fantasy" label seems to encompass all of that now. I read some Pratchett as a young teen, but it never quite pulled me in. Maybe because the clever tongue-in-cheek elements pulled me out of the narrative, maybe because I got them from the library and was therefore reading a random book in the series. We'll never know. Haha. Acknowledge him as a solid author, and appreciate the recommendation, though. I'm always on the hunt for more great books.

If you liked the Hunger Games series, you might like Red Rising, if you haven't read that yet.

I'm so sorry you had to part with your book collection. That must have been difficult.

Ah, Choose Your Own Adventure books. I devoured SO many of those as a kid. Loved ‘em. I’ll confess I always read them with a finger stuck in the previous choice, though, and if I died I’d usually go back and take the other path. Haha.

I read quite a bit. A least some daily. More when the book I’m currently working through is a great one. A bit less when something is a bit of a slog but it’s not quite bad enough to fully give up on.

Most of my reading is high/epic fantasy, though I branch out on occasion. The Name of the Wind is probably my favourite book (let’s not think about how unlikely that series is to ever be completed), though there are so many good ones. Currently partway through the Priory of the Orange Tree, which I’m liking okay so far.

I’m a particular sucker for smart writing and clever rogues when I can find them, but lots of other stuff is great too.

I own…rather a lot of paper books, but i’ve got an e-reader now, and will only pick up a paper copy of something if it was truly great. The top favourites are on shelves. The rest didn’t all make it to shelves when I last moved, but I can’t yet bear to get rid on them either. We have dreams of a library room someday.

YES. So many times when I was young I ended up starting a series on book two or needing  to skip book 3 or something. The story was…not as good that way, for some reason. Haha.

I'll check out Plug and Play. Thanks!

I've played BG2 as well, but it's been a while. I think my memory of it might be blurring together a bit with Neverwinter Nights. I do remember Jaheira, Minsc, and Boo, though. :)

Yeah, on the surface a game about Conan and capturing thralls, etc. sounds like maybe not quite my niche, but it's been one of my favourite games for years. Collect people, collect animals, build cool buildings, mine rocks, mine more rocks, mine extra rocks, get overconfident and pull way too many people to fight at once, survive anyway and feel cooler than you have any right to, mine more rocks. Good times.

If you like puzzle games, Obra Dinn and Gorogoa both had a bit of a unique take on things. I don't think anybody else seems to have ever heard of Gorogoa, and it's quite short (couple hours, maybe), but I remember enjoying it.  I like games where I start out not quite knowing what's going on. Haha.

...Which is a good lead in phrase for Inscryption. It's an odd duck. Yes, the main mechanic is card roguelike. But it's...very unique. I don't know whether it's my favourite card-based roguelike, but I have to give it credit for creating a very different overall experience from other games. If anyone hasn't played it and is considering it, I would extremely highly recommend NOT reading anything at all about it before playing.

Most recently I've been chipping away at Book of Hours. Still haven't finished Baldur's Gate 3 either. I do absolutely intend to at some point, though. I love RPGs, but I have to be in the right mood for them.

Yeah, fair. I don't really count that one in my mind. Haha

So hard to pin down a top list of PC games.

Conan Exiles (excellent game, really gets the balance in a survival/crafting type game just right to keep things moving. I can come back to this over and over again with different groups of friends)

Dragon Age Origins (pretty dated game now, but will always have a special place in my heart, so I have to add it to any favourites list. Some of the character writing with Alistair was really distinct from other games I had encountered at that time.)

Civilization (VI is good, but I think V might be my sweet spot)

This War of Mine (I just really really like this game for some reason)

Portal 2 (classic for a reason)

Honorable Mentions and Neat Games:
Disco Elysium (had its flaws toward the end, but really enjoyable overall)
Return of the Obra Dinn (very unique format for a puzzle-it-out type game)
Gorogoa (very short puzzle game, but innovative and well done)
Inscryption (definitely gets points for originality)

I've played a lot of games, so paring things down to the top list is tough. Probably forgetting some stuff that would make that cut too.

As I recall, New Vegas was really good as well (I mean, they all are, really. Fallout's a great series).

I can understand you not wanting to write an essay, but if you were willing to give at least a bit more of your reasoning about MrLuna and what made you suspicious of him, that would help me a lot. Even just one or two things that stood out to you. I lean that he's red too, for the record, but I would very much like to hear which things he's said/done that pinged your radar. Any details at all.

Edit: Corrected a missing letter i.

Mechanics question...

If we had a hypothetical one-use roleblocker, and they targeted a roleblocker who was attempting to block another target or targets, would the other targets still get roleblocked, or would the first roleblocking stop that from happening?

Neighbor Hell - Mafia wins, GG! ·

You're reading very green to me with all your theories about the roleblocking situation. Sounds like the kind of speculation my poor neighbour is getting subjected to all the time lately. Haha.

The Changeling ability was effectively sort of a town-aligned role cop, in a weird way, so I was thinking it makes sense to me that MrLuna could be mafia. I could see the possibility of a role cop being mafia-aligned, especially if maybe one of those "game changing abilities" the town has involves alignment-checking somehow, or if one of the other couple of people that target a player could check alignment at least a limited number of times. Would certainly explain why they'd be reluctant to give out more details.

Neighbor Hell - Mafia wins, GG! ·

I believe the claims to be roleblocked on N2 were you, Jelly, MrLuna, Isaccasi, and myself. Though VT confirmed they were responsible for mine, and there was another plausible reason for Isaccasi's. If I'm missing anybody, someone let me know.

Edit: Oops! Saw it's already been answered. That's what I get for getting up to do something before replying. :)

Neighbor Hell - Mafia wins, GG! ·

I would also be surprised if we didn't have some evils/neutrals who have been more open about their roles because they've either got a role that we might consider to be likely green-aligned, or because they've taken their actual role and modified the details to make it look greener. A green-sounding role is a point in someone's favour for sure, but I'm hopeful that everyone is keeping a bit skeptical of their neighbours and other townsfolk with that in mind.

Neighbor Hell - Mafia wins, GG! ·

I do agree with this in many cases, though I suspect some of the people keeping their role details more to themselves might have good reasons. For example, someone with a form of night immunity (a variation on a hider, for example) or a possible way to attack visiting mafia members in the night might be trying to bait the mafia to attack them at night without wanting to outright lie to the town and present too much misinformation in order to make that happen.

Neighbor Hell - Mafia wins, GG! ·

He said he targeted Jhay N2, I believe, and it went through successfully.  Not last night, when he said he was blocked.
