So I'm still fairly new only really been actively playing Torn for the past few months even though I originally made my account years ago.
I've been pretty active for my first Halloween Trick or Treat Event this year which has been good so far and so I started to look through the calendar/forums for the next upcoming events and saw the Xmas Town event coming up in December.
I've read a few guides and seen that it involves searching maps for items and was wondering whether or not the Awareness boosts using Merits had any effect on the spawn rate of items during Xmas Town.
I've tried to search the forums to see if anyone else had asked a similar question previously but either it's never been asked or I just couldn't find the thread so thanks in advance if theirs anyone who has the answer.
I'm not really sure that there's any point to implementing this as a change.
From all the comments I've read so far the only real positive affect I've seen mentioned would be helping to stop a small amount of energy loss for can users which I can only assume would be much more easily fixed (in terms of time required for the devs) by changing the amount of E generated per can to give a percentage chance of either a multiple of 5 or 10.
It seems to add way more issues then it'd solve since the community would most likely want to see; amendments to the way Refills/FHCs work so that they would be +150 rather then fill to max, additional outlets for the random amounts of non-multiples of 5e we have i.e. changes to the gym e limits or something else, changes to the way the system updates our energy on the sidebar etc. for it to be worthwhile doing.
I love the idea that drugs 2.0 could utilise new ways of effecting regen times for E (and hopefully nerve/happy too) but as Bogie said already that can still be implemented without the need to change the current E regen times so just seems like a kind of pointless waste of resources to make this change when the devs time and effort could be directed towards something else instead.
But if it's just a case of moving the source creating the money from one area of the game to another, what's the point??
I mean Points creation is pretty much hard capped in terms of the increase to the overall money supply based on numbers of active players and the time it takes to travel in order to create a full set.
Moving the source of the cash into crimes instead simply changes the cap to being based on time taken for Nerve regen rather then time taken to travel. So if it's not going to reduce overall money supply it's not having any effect whatsoever on inflation and would just be disproportionatley effecting new users who will be losing a source of income from traveling.
If points can only be sold to other players then isn't this just creating a new arbitrary cap on the amount of points that need to be produced in Torns econmy?? Most players use at max 50pts a day for E/N refills so hasn't this effectively created a maximum cap of 18,250 pts per player per annum as the approximate maximum demand on the market in a given year whilst at the same time destroying the price of points/plushies/flowers/artefacts in the process??

A palace on the south side of Torn's residential area has just gotten a brand new paint job. Donning your mask, you squeeze through a gap in the railings and run over to the east wing. In huge blockbuster style, you hit the wall with your tag. Your line work is exceptional, but it's nothing compared to your tight fade. You're about to step back to applaud your own work when you notice some children's toys through the window. Returning to the palace wall, you freestyle the words "Prince Andrew's Playhouse" to the side of your tag. Don't sweat it, he won't sue.
Thanks, I've had a look into the awareness week and figure it might be worthwhile using the merit reset then to try and squeeze a little extra out of the event before swapping my merits back once it's finished

11412 - During the outbreak of the plague in England the village of Eyam in Derbyshire deliberately isolated itself to stop the spread of the disease to nearby villages. In all, 260 of Eyam's estimated 800 residents perished during the quarantine, more than double the mortality rate of the Great Plague of London. To this day the descendants of the survivors of Eyam who still live their seem to have a noticeably higher resistance to the plague virus then other people.
