First you need a ring, then you need a player to marry. Gender doesn't matter. Go to your items and use the ring to propose to someone. If they confirm it you'll become engaged. Then you can go the the church and get married proper, as long as you have at least one friend witness it.

Pick up a macana if you can, it has great damage and accuracy and is pretty cheap. That'll help you weapon wise but there's no replacement for time spent in the gym.
