I haven't seen any MLB tips kicking around here, so I thought I'd share with the good folks of Torn. These are the picks I make in real life, as I am a degenerate gambler. I'll post the picks and recaps for the night on this thread. I have four illegitimate children in Mexico, so any tips would be appreciated. 

5/28/25 late slate

Cardinals over Orioles

• The Cardinals have been on a hot streak, winning four of their last five games.
• Miles Mikolas is starting for St. Louis, and he’s been reliable (prone to come to a crashing halt at any moment) this season.
• Baltimore has struggled recently, especially against right-handed pitching.
• The Cardinals’ offense has started to click

Royals over Reds

• Kansas City is slightly favored in a close matchup and I like the + odds
• The Royals have been playing well at home and have Noah Cameron on the bump who has been dominant early on.
• Cincinnati’s bullpen sucks, which I think will be the deciding factor.
• Royals win in a low scoring pitchers duel

Cubs over Rockies

• The Cubs are playing the Rockies. Just bet against the Rockies every game this year and you will make money.

Angels over Yankees (contrarian bet of the night)

• Kikuchi has been dominant lifetime against the Yankees.
• Judge doesn't hit against Kikuchi
• Schmidt was wild in his last outing 
• Once again, I like the + money here

Mariners over Nationals

• Seattle just beat Washington 9-1 in the series opener.
• The Mariners have won four of their last five against NL East teams.
• George Kirby is starting for Seattle; while his ERA is high, the Nationals’ offense has been cold.
• Washington has lost three of their last four, struggling to generate runs.
• I'll take Seattle in a game that could easily top 10+ runs

Bets for 7/12/25

Current MLB Record 58-38

Phillies over Padres - This is based on two key factors. Wheeler is a monster this season, and Yu Darvish is on only his second start of the season after coming off the IL.  He wasn't great in his first start, and I think it will be the same this go around. Even if Darvish pitches well, he won't match the fact that Wheeler will shut down the Padres.

Brewers over Nationals; Woodruff came off the IL for the Brewers last week and pitched a gem.  Facing a team that is limping to the All-Star break, I'm taking the ML on the Brewers. Don't overthink this one, make some money and move on.

Dodgers over Giants- This is a game where Ohtani is opening for the Dodgers, but also Sheehan is coming in behind Ohtani.  Both guys have been pitching well lately.  I think the Dodgers get to Roupp and win in a close one.

Baltimore over Miami - Miami has come back down to earth, and Trevor Rogers has been looking good.  The Orioles have also been warming up.  I like Baltimore straight up today.

Games that I'm interested in, but I don't want to commit to yet, and I'm too busy to research them much today. Complete transparency, the bets below are not entirely fleshed out, and I may not be betting them.   Just pointing you in the direction.

Bets for 7/11/25

Current MLB record: 54-35

The Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians play a doubleheader today. I’m taking the Guardians to win straight up in game one. In game two, I’m taking the Guardians to cover the 1.5 spread.

Cincinnati Reds over the Rockies straight up.

KC Royals versus NY Mets: under 10.5 runs. Vegas has the under at 9.5, I’m taking the one-run cushion that Torn offers for a safer bet. Under 9.5 will pay out more, though.

Pirates versus Twins: I’m betting a couple of things on this game. I like the twins at +1.5 for the safest bet. You can bet the twins to win outright as well. I think this game will be very low-scoring. Vegas has the under at 6.5. I'm taking the under at 6.5. Complete transparency, most of the internet is taking the over.

Milwaukee Brewers over Washington Nationals straight up.

The rest of the games are mostly toss-ups, and I'm straying away from them with the number of bets available to us already.
