So i contacted an officer maybe an hour ago about deleting this account. I already am discouraged from donating anymore to the game and even was contemplating not ever playing again after my restarted account was marked for deletion with no resolve because i did not dig through the help wiki/forums deep enough to even know i could not use a referral code when restarting. 2 weeks isnt a long time to be playing the game, but the fact that my account could just be deleted overnight with no resolve available whatsover means i am probably not going to be investing any money into Torn for the future but I would still like to play!
Anyways, I don't want my next account to be destroyed because i didn't follow the directions exactly, so I have contacted several officers waiting on responses. Now, I know I am not going to get an instant response but the only Officer who is actively playing the game sent me this as a response:
Yet 1 hour later and this officer is still active as of 2 minutes! The account deletion incident is enough to discourage me from donating or subscribing to Torn in the future, but now being flat out ignored by staff c'mon! To say the least I am very disheartened that one of the most entertaining online games I have found to date has caused me to feel this way, as i really did want to get into the game and donate more in the future.
IDK what I am really looking for here, so comments, tips on restarting again or any other players who had accounts deleted and what they did next, and steps to take to make sure an account does not get deleted?? It is hard for me that 2 weeks of hard work will be completely erased when I had no clue whatsoever any rules were being broken, and the player who coaxed me into using their referral with my restart by giving me cash incentives still has an account and everything. I don't see how i even wrongfully benefited from anything here other than making one of the strongest allie relationships I have had with a stranger on an mmorpg, which was great while it lasted... Whereas the person whos referral was used benefits hugely, but gets to keep that account? I just don't understand this referrals thing and havn't ever seen a rule like it on other game sites.
Glad to hear you are still playing good after this. You are probably one of the most helpful posters who actually read my whole post. Please tell me, have you been donating now that you have been playing for awhile and level 36?
Also I am not trying to "threaten" anyone about donating rather explain my disposition about it because I can't imagine others haven't been put off somehow with an odd situation like this from donating as well. How can I spend my real money when I am still scared to death the account may be unusable one day just because I am stupid or missed something everyone else doesnt.
You may call me stupid and retraded and illiterate or whatever but damn I never have had to think this hard about a game before and I am brand new and looking for advice
Oh believe me I know the rule now and ive read the page since my account was set to delete. I understand all the things your saying and the rules now but didn't before and had no clue I was doing anything wrong. All I can say is sorry for being stupid and I'll be smarter spending my money so quickly on a game I clearly do not understand. But I just thought Torn was something cooler than it really is and the situation is so odd to me it has really put me off from playing and especially wanting to donate anymore or god forbid subscribe.
But seriously I just tried to go find that link just browsing through the wiki and could not find it LMFAO. All I had was the copy paste from the administration in my fed report. Anyways, I understand the rules guys, but didn't before this happened that's the point of this thread, and also I guess to see if there's anyone else that's had a similar experience and continued playing and if they've donated money or anything. That's the part that's bumming me out is I feel like I do when someone coaxes me to buy something that I think is so much greater than it then feel like I wasted my money after the fact. :( don't get me wrong I love Torn, it's the coolest game I think I have ever seen. I guess that's why I have become so dissapointed
As i stated in OP i am not expecting an immediate response. The concern was I was directly lied to by staff member because they were obviously not going to sleep xD
The player that helped me restart "improperly" I think did not have a clue about this either, it is kind of buried in the wiki :( And he is my closest most trustable friend in this game now that we have "bonded over the referral process". I did notice he was banned for 7 days, multiple accounts and his wifes account was marked for deletion as well, so I really dont know. I just couldn't believe my account i grinded hard wasting time on real life things for 2 weeks to get an awesome start in the 14 day newbie period was set to be deleted with no resolve whatsoever just for using a referall code while restarting an account from this one which was only 2 days old.
I started this account and wasted my refills, after tons of reading and researching I then scoured the forums/wiki (so i thought...) to make sure the new account i restarted would not be sent to fed, cause I knew that would really suck, which it does. Also, I have to figure out the facebook thing because that helped me get started and i wasted 3 DP's worth of my own money cause im stupid i guess lol. If i start a fresh account at least i can have the facebook perk again and I am not going to be forced to spend money i now am not willing to throw at Torn for any real reason anymore. I know i could start normally but after doing 3 happy jumps to boost my first account I cannot do that to myself, sorry xD
Anyways, one of the officers did answer me as expected. I am now going through the complete PROPER PROCESS of account deletion and restarting. My friend that I used the referral from did not follow the proper way and told me what to do and his account was a little over 20 days old. So i stupidly assumed that I would be ok listening to him but that little referral that i think so little of on most all other sites screwed me. I had no clue my account would be straight up deleted FOREVER especially after skimming forums of people advertising to help people who restarted, used their referral and they would pay them at level 10.
If my new account ever gets deleted I will probably quit then, but I will give it another go, just not gonna donate like I was dreaming in my head before this hit me in face xD
Also to NeoProtege, This account is already so screwed and past the 14 days now, also I am not planning on starting back up immediately but if this account is deleted I will be able to start again if I want to. This whole thing definitely has put me off playing for at least a few weeks lol. I know I might sound like a noob, but I was proud of my start and what I accomplished in 2 weeks, and to have to start from the beginning again after wasting donations on Torn... eh I am just gonna play some other games for a bit. I really have been searching for the perfect browser/text game for me, and I love Torn but its still just on the list not The One yet. Almost like this feeling I really thought I found the ultimate game, but then crushed to find out any account could be deleted FOREVER because the player accidentally did not read a small wiki post. I could only imagine this happening after building my account for a year!
