The holiday itself has become Our Sacred-est Tradition
It's been Torn from its roots and feeds our capitalistic ambitions
Massive populations in the cross-hairs our nation's own economy
This time of year achieves total autonomy
Buy, buy, buy - you give what you get, don't throw a fit
If you ain't buying, you ain't giving - and that's the only Christmas sin
How can you be happy on the holidays with no presents, it's absurd
"If you love them then you buy them things" , my TV spoke those words
They were paraphrased of course but the message stood the same
To make this perfect economic monster the headless beast needed a name
Good O'l Nick; a saint, all the kids of his day gave him his fame
his priceless charity in the community brought smiles to their face
And after he passed, his legacy brought smiles to the banks
They dressed his image like a blood; threw in some Reindeer with a sleigh
Made him omnipresent and just for fun made him overweight
Christmas was about togetherness so they just re-branded the entire day
Capitalism doesn't kill it only strips away the soul
If we can get rid of the wish lists there'd be so much more in store
Maybe work on all our goals, get to know our friends some more
So by the year end, you got the cheer and joy to keep on moving forward.
