The Horror of Torn

Keep your mouth shut, keep out of this space,
Bad things happen to people who don't know their place.
And if your stats are something to laugh at,
Don't ever be found talking in the global chat.

And if you want money to flee from the dark,
Perhaps you'd consider the local loan shark.
But Duke will know when your payment is due,
So best pay it back or he'll come straight for you.

Escaped to the outskirts to stay out of trouble?
Well certain strong factions have brews on the bubble.
So I hope you don't mind radiation and dirt,
'Cause if these bombs hit you you're sure to be hurt.

So why not fly away? This city's no treat.
But bring too much money and you'll be fresh meat.
Your health and your wealth will take a sure dip
if a mugger catches you on an overseas trip.

Arm up to the neck, there's no safe way out,
Any man in this city will say without doubt,
Make many a friend but still they will warn,
You can never be safe in a city like Torn.

The Golden Key

'Twas another merry day in Christmas Town, and jolly little Lou was wandering around, hunting down adventure and expensive valuables, when she came across a carpark. In a pile of rubbish and decay, something sparkled against the winter sunlight. Curious, Lou walked over, a hand outstretched -

- and was silently mowed down by a car.

Frustrated but still interested, Lou trudged back to the carpark, across slippy ice puddles and past notes with inside jokes (she didn't understand) scribbled on them. She found the waste once more and reached into it, selecting out a small golden key. It glittered cheerfully in the daylight. Lou had heard of the tales of prizes found in rare golden chests and so too longed to discover one's contents herself. And so, the adventure began!

Her journey dragged on for days, and her heart ached each time she passed by a chest that wasn't golden. Why is this so difficult? She pondered. I came across loads of gold chests before. Why can't I find one now?

As the end of Christmas Town drew nearer, Lou lost any hope that she would ever find a gold chest. She milled around the game tents, tired and downtrodden. Her friends gossiped about the spoils of their own CT adventures and Lou couldn't help but feel left out. 

Then, on the third last day of Christmas Town, it happened.

Not looking for anything in particular, Lou wandered up the mountainside. Shining on a clifftop, a dazzling golden gleam. Lou gaped. A golden chest! She raced up the mountain to collect her findings, a bright goofy grin plastered on her face. Imagine what might be inside!I

She would not find out.

Who knows who it could've been? A casual player or a pro who had been chest hunting for hours. Nevertheless, it was gone before Lou could reach it. And that was Lou's final attempt at finding a golden chest...

In 2017 that is!

Now her journey continues, and with each passing moment her hopes are raised. This year she would find a chest, collect its contents, and finally beat Christmas Town!

 

 

 

Or so she hopes, anway.

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas binge-playing gave to me~

Twelve black ice falls

Eleven unopened Chests

Ten over-priced bounties

Nine cheap candies

Eight mugs for thousands

Seven new enemies

Six festive socks

FIVE GOLDEN KEYS

Four cans of XMAS

Three Santa masks

Two bombed gifts

And an overdose on LSD~

T'was the late hours of eve, and through all of Torn,

The wealthy gifted poor all the stuff they had worn.



Addicts and druggies becoming a'high,

All I could do was sit in a corner and cry.



"For what-" Asked a man with an outstanding level,

"Has got you so down in this time you should revel?"



He must've seen all my trade chat *sobs*,

For surely aiding beginners was one of his jobs.



"In just a few minutes I'll be fourteen days old

with no shelter from those who are cold."



"Well!" He replied with three pots of honey,

"Let's start to earn you some well-needed money!"



I gambled until I had made fifteen mil,

So I messaged him back to tell of my kill.



He sent me a winky face and before I knew it,

I realized I made a mistake and I blew it.



For I sat half dead with nothing to take,

He had mugged me by using his trusty fruitcake.



"Until next time!" He sent, and blocked me straight after,

This was my very first Torn Christmas disaster.
