No, it's not me with cash on hand. There is an inactive level 8 player out there with $100M cash on hand as of this post.
They are one of the names in the list of players below, all inactive and all with no recent lost defends.
In addition, there are 10 more players on the list with $10M cash on hand as a consolation prize.
EDIT: All targets have now been hit at least once. Thanks for playing!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is just one of the ten with $10M cash one hand:
General consensus is that Cthulhu in Torn refers to a fictional character that first appeared in an H.P. Lovecraft short story, "Call of Cthulhu", published in 1928.
Lovecraft transcribed the pronunciation of Cthulhu as Khlûl′-hloo, and said, "the first syllable pronounced gutturally and very thickly... Long after Lovecraft's death, Chaosium, publishers of the Call of Cthulhurole-playing game, influenced modern pronunciation with the statement, "we say it kuh-THOOL-hu", even while noting that Lovecraft said it differently.[9] Others use the pronunciation Katulu or Kutulu or /k??tu?lu?/[10]
In "The Call of Cthulhu", H. P. Lovecraft describes a statue of Cthulhu as: "A monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind."[11]
As a Halloween special, a player can exchange 9,999 treats to "Summon Cthulhu". Many players have speculated this means a NPC will be released to wreak havoc in Torn. Countless players have used advanced search on "Cthulhu" to no avail -- no such NPC exists.
Sadly, advanced search does not allow you to search by role, so locating NPCs is not a simple task.
Fortunately, the API can help here by searching a reasonable range of numbers for new NPCs. Here are the results.
This is ALL NPCs with an id number less than 1000 and some of the NPCs with an ID over 1000.

I omitted player maximum life from this view because there's a related question in the newspaper's word search and is totally not the reason I was searching the API for NPCs on a Saturday morning. However, the list is sorted by maximum life, highest to lowest.
The NPC that leapt out to me is #23, name = 23, role = c' ah lw'nafh'drn.
The literal translation (in R'helian from the Cthulhu story) is "is us a dream" which doesn't make much sense. But the developers don't have much space for a name, so I searched longer phrases. The closest match was:
I am at 2B stats total, slightly heavier on def / dex.
10K treats in exchange for a boss fight seems like a LOT, I sure hope this guy drops some unique items when you win. And it may be some time before someone is willing to spend that much to see what happens. But when it does, it looks like Torn is ready.
EDIT: Someone pointed out the unique attack methods of #23. Here is a sample from the attack log
2nd Prize: Two Donator Packs 3rd - 10th Prize: One Donator Pack
All others receive a smaller prize until the contest is closed.
This is an extremely challenging puzzle, and you will need some knowledge computer text encoding to finish the puzzle. There are hints scattered in the new area. One hint required to complete the puzzle is in the puzzle's jail (yes, it has it's own jail) so you will need to fail at the puzzle once to be sent to jail for the clue.
In the last room, you will receive a message about what to post for your prize. Post that answer here in this thread.
If you reach the last room and do not understand what is required, please email me or text me, do not post the last question in the forum.
Each player's correct final answer will be unique.
First prize is a fully loaded Private Island. There will be other decent prizes for those who follow, though it is possible that no one will solve this puzzle.
See first reply below for more info as the contest develops.
The ongoing global health crisis has impacted the Torn community. Some of our long-time members are taking time away to help with their families. And some have gone missing, possibly due to illness. As friends and faction members grow concerned, there's an interest in determining who is away with a "safe" explanation and who is missing.
Using the database I set up for fedded players and faction reporting, I created a report that shows players who were previously active and who suddenly stopped playing.
I came up with a list of 18 players in this first pass. I suspect this will grow in the future. I contacted the faction leads or co-leads of each faction to find out if some of these people were legitimately away.
Hopefully, these players are just spending time with family or no longer have access to a computer.
Previous list of missing members have had their status updated. New missing to be added later. I also added Rob_Snow at the request of several people.
Current report keeps the players who were missing last time and adds players who are in a faction and have a company job and who have been away more than 7 days. Two players added by request. All profiles manually checked to ensure a highly active account prior to going missing.
I provide a service -- a list of fedded accounts. I provide it in the forums because it's accessible to more people there than it would be in Discord. If someone has a question, they can post it. If I report in my profile sig, I will instead get a pile of emails and chats, many of which would be duplicates.
I'm disappointed that you don't feel this thread could be moderated more like Q&A, where of course some jokes and side comments are allowed but not total derailment. Instead, there's ten pages of rants about a single faction family despite my efforts to create a thread dedicated to that topic. When I do post "OP updated", it is lost in a sea of flaming.
It seems as though you made a conscious choice to pressure SMTH leadership into cooperating by inflaming a mob of players. I don't disagree with your right to do that, I only disagree that it's being done in an informational thread.
Feel free to grave this one. I've been busy at work lately anyway and trying to fit in reporting is taking up too much time, So I don't really have time for either thread.
I have updated the OP to indicate that I will no longer publish to this thread, and I changed the name to Fedded Archive. Feel free to continue your discussions, or make your own fed reports here.
I will be continuing my Fedded API reports on a new thread. It's been a good run! Best of luck.
The fedded list is usually refreshed off of accounts known to have logged on within 120 days, or people flagged as coming back from inactive because they joined a company or a faction.
Last update: Mon 05:51:06 - 17/04/23.
Note: if status details is blank, then account marked for deletion.
Recently, bogie posted in fedded list thread: I appreciate that IG has made some reports and will look forward to checking those out, I hope this can be the start of positive change, and it's disappointing that it took so much public pressure for this to happen.
IG is ig_chen. So it looks like SMTH leadership is reporting suspicious behavior. I guess we won't know if any feds in the next few days were due to SMTH leadership reports or something else, but it's great to see this process moving in the right direction.
As most of you know, I did make a thread for dissecting the SMTH issues.
I would very much like to keep the Fedded List focused on 1) recent fedded accounts and 2) any Staff announcements that a Staff members would like to make.
It would be great if further speculation on whether SMTH is cheating -- how, when, why, where, memes, etc -- goes to this thread:
Sorry to see you go. It is a consequence of the situation, some good and honest players leave in the process of removing cheating players. I'm guessing you received a lot of negative messages in the past few weeks. Best of luck to you.
It's been years since I tried paying for anything in Vietnam, but at the time it was money only, and then paper money and not coins. Hopefully that situation has improved.
I'm guessing most of the SEA players are in Singapore or Malaysia. Yes, good point, China is not part of SEA but would most benefit from the addition.
I gotta wonder if his statement includes any developers or Staff members who are Chinese. And does he mean ethnically Chinese but living in a country outside of China? Or anyone of any ethnicity living in China? Does he only mean Han Chinese, or is he including the other 56 ethnic groups?
Or perhaps he means people with "Chinese-sounding" names, or people who "look Chinese".
So many questions.
And yes, this is sarcasm. Some people get investigated and turn out to be cheating from a single downvote. Others can display their full intellectual range with just six words.
