This is one of my first scripts that I built for private use. I shared with a friend in Torn - they loved it - and they told me I should share it with the fine (and not so fine) citizens of Torn...
The Challenge
I like to hop from one activity to the next in Torn. This might be a typical day for me:
Spend some time sniping items in the item market that are under-priced..
Sell these snipes in my bazaar or on the item market for a modest profit.
Spend some time shoplifting, searching for cash, dump diving, and then flipping my items on my lunch break in my bazaar or in the item market.
Then, my favourite pastime... $1 Bazaar Flips.
I will search through my favourite bazaars that list $1 items... snap up what I can, and then list them for sale.
Sometimes I don't get round to listing stuff, though.
And, sometimes I don't get round to one or more activity due to trains, travelling or whatever.
So, when I looked through my logs, it got hard to track my activities and see what kinda profit I was making on the regular.
Enter MegaLedger
The script itself lives in Google Sheets. I mostly live in Google Sheets for my daily grind, so it made sense to code it there.
Firstly, you enter the date range and the stuff you want to track:
WHY? The API does not let you page through your logs. It caps at 100 per call. So, you have to 'slice' up the time period into manageable timeframes using timestamps instead. This increases API calls, but the script has a good backoff and keeps API calls to a decent limit.
This is just what I needed to be able to track my progress in Torn, and I think a few others might find it useful
I'll make the new versions available as I update MegaLedger, and I welcome any feedback. I'll consider making any changes depending on the time it takes to implement and the complexity. Sadly, my real life job does not pay as well as my Torn activities...
Another beautifully executed trade. He's next level. Real good. Like, beyond our human intelligence good. If IBY were a car, he'd be a concept car that runs on ice or bin juice, and the CEO would be all "Yes! The public must have this awesome tech!!" And the CFO would be all like "ARE YOU CRAZY?! THEY AIN'T READY!" But the tech would be released, and we'd all live in perfect harmony because of the bin juice car.
I can't rate him highly enough. Always makes himself available and never forgets his regulars. I won't go anywhere else. I'm likely to rename one of my kids after him, or have another just for that reason. Maybe get a tattoo of him on my chest.
Can you let me know if you've definitely selected the right dates when you bought the item... there should then be a log in the Trading_Logs sheet that shows the purchase - 1112 Item Market Buy or 1225 Bazaar Buy
Depending on where you sold those items, you will see them shown in the analysis sheets. It's important to note that the sheet uses FIFO rules because there's literally no other way to track what you bought and sold with Torn logs...
This is First In First Out accounting methodology. So imagine you bought 10x teddies from the item market on Monday. On Tuesday you bought 2 more. Then on Wednesday you sold 4 teddies. This will take the 4 from the 10x teddies you bought on Monday.
FIFO rules mean it will continue taking from the earliest time you bought the items... so sometimes you might see an issue in profit margins unless you think about it like this.
Also worth noting - make sure you select the right logs to download!
Hey Weav3r - thank you :) I use pretty much all of your stuff haha
I will definitely send you a message as the Trades side is getting difficult, because everyone wants to do something different with it (and I originally designed it for selfish reasons!). V1.4 will address a few things, so if I get stuck, I will be in touch.
