Property Rental Notification [IMPLEMENTED] · · 25 likes

It also says "1 day" on the rental right up until you get kicked out - it's a little confusing and I've been bumped to the shack during a flight a couple times which is insanely annoying. Be nice if the time left was put in hours once it was under a day left. R+

True, I think having the item market item reduces this issue somewhat, though. Many dedicated weapons traders will put some of the better quality ones up in the item market rather than through their bazaar so it's always visible. And you can work around it as well by looking for ads in trade chat and forum.

Like I said, all of that is kind of annoying, and I'm not opposed to a method to search by str/acc/def/quality. But I doubt if adding just 3 more bazaar slots will block people from filling up the visible slots with junk, especially for popular items like dbks and armalites, where it's most important to be able to find the better quality ones.

E back for runaway ·

I like 5 e back better than 10 e, as it shouldn't be super easy to get extra attacks in just by doing runaways. But I agree that running away is kind of underpowered. Even if it's not returning e, as others have pointed out it could probably be abused, maybe some other benefit such as restoring some fraction of the life lost during the fight?

Grave ·

I think that having only 3 bazaars visible creates an interesting dynamic and rewards both an understanding of the market and frequent price updates. I guess adding another 3 wouldn't change that a hell of a lot, but I guess I'm just used to the way it is. I think it would reward the bigger traders as well as it would be easier to sell bulk. Plus, if you really want to see the higher priced bazaars, you can use YATA or just the API on its own. That being said, it is a little annoying that you cannot search for equipment by quality or anything - even in the item market listings, it's very hard to compare at a glance. Perhaps a sort-by-value search feature could be added to item market. Probably it would be easier to do with just quality, but it would be nice to be able to look at dbk's by acc, for instance.

Mine for Precious Stones in each Country - Museum ·

I like this idea, it's a fun new mechanic that fits in with the rest of how traveling works, and allows people who do not want to risk mugging a way to get rid of some energy. But as others have mentioned something needs to be in place to avoid deprecating points further. Here are some ideas:

- Add another history edu that you have to do before you can mine
- I agree with making it take up item carry space
- Perhaps you can't sell the stones p2p so you have to personally travel to each country with a mine and throw e at it to complete a set, and then unlock the museum to trade them in personally. In order to let players keep their sets balanced, perhaps you can sell the good items to the pawn shop.

rehab bill, when to leave it alone? · · 2 likes

Rehab does not reduce your stats at all, using xanax will always improve your gym gains over not using it except at very low stats where ecstasy is preferable.

How Do You Manage Your Events? - Poll ·

I don't think I've ever deleted an event in my life lol. Idk why you would bother when instead of deleting all the events you don't want you can just save the ones you do, I only save ones I'm really proud of and the ones for auction wins so I can keep track of my bottom line

An impossible bet? Am I bad for it? · · 3 likes

This is kind of mean. To be fair, the friend has final responsibility for taking the bet, but holding a friend to a bet of that much after two years is a little much in any circumstance, especially since you guys are high schoolers - $300 is probably a significant fraction of his savings. If you really hold him to it he may end up spending more money on the game or gambling more than he would have organically in order to try to afford all of the books of carols he would need. I doubt you want to make the game super stressful for him. It is ultimately your choice, but I think the ethically right thing to do is reduce the bet to like $20 and an 'I told you so'.

Some players have rocketed up to the top 100 battle stats within a year or two... granted, many of them are restarts, but it goes to show that it is theoretically possible. A lot of it has to do with accumulating wealth - the most expensive training methods are prohibitive for a lot of older players, but killing it in casino or trading can make them available. Hildegarde I believe is still the record holder for fastest entry into the top 100, I think he has a number of forum posts talking about strategies.

Where do we draw the line with this shit? · · 8 likes

Damn that is super messed up. But this should probably be a lesson to never post the same picture publicly on 2 accounts that you don't want linked, and tbh shouldn't post face pics at all on a site you would not like connected to your real identity, because creeps and just completely thoughtless nosy people like this are everywhere online. It's not hard to do a reverse image search, so unfortunately posting the same original image in 2 places makes linking those accounts as easy as 3 clicks. You can also lock down your linkedin profile to where even the picture is only visible to people who are logged in, I am pretty sure it would then not be searchable via Google images. I'm not blaming you, it sucks that you have to do this because you wouldn't have to if people acted normal, but, well, here we are.

For future reference, Atler, if you see this, the non complete asshole way to expose a catfish is to message the real person asking if the suspected catfish account is them, and then post screencaps of their response with personally identifying information blacked out. There was no reason to believe OP was a catfish, plus either way, you would have been doxing a completely innocent woman over meaningless online rpg drama. Think very seriously before posting anything with someone's full name, username, email, etc., anywhere, ever, unless it's obviously supposed to be public information. It could in some circumstances (probably not this one) seriously endanger them, their families, or their careers. For instance, if someone posts something completely innocent but political and their employer who disagrees sees it. If someone accidentally makes their accounts linkable like this, it may still be much more difficult to get from someone's real life profiles to side accounts such as this than vice versa, and you might be making it searchable. This forum isn't indexed so OP I think you are almost certainly not in any danger of this, but Atler and other would-be "there can't be any girls online" sleuths, don't make stuff like this a habit.

Do pub refills count for the nerve refill merit? · · 1 like

Looking to switch companies and I'm chasing crime merits. Does the 25 JP nerve refill in a pub count towards the "You've Got Some Nerve" merit? Thanks.

Recommend order for education · · 4 likes

As others have said, the first 3 you should do are sports science bachelor, intravenous, and then drivers' license (under general). I think there used to be a guide for this but unfortunately I can't find it. Then, basically, it's up to you and what your goals are. I will just briefly comment on all of the bachelors, I bolded what I think the most useful ones are:

- Bio: Unlocks temps that are really useful in battle, but pretty expensive. Do this if you are in a place with disposable cash and where you attack strong people a lot - think chaining or mugging.
- Business mgmt: No reason to do this until you want to run a company.
- Combat training: Weapon experience is good and the earlier you unlock it the earlier you can start boosting your weapons. You have to have decent weapons before this is really useful, clearly, but good to do early-ish.
- Compsci: Viruses suck, you can't really make that much money on them but you can unlock the first one if you want to start working on those merits, because they take a long time (simple virus is coded fastest). I don't know why you would want to send anonymous messages, put off the bachelor.
- General studies: As others have said, this ba is not really useful and should probably be finished dead last. If you want to build work stats get/buy company trains or work in education. There are a couple of lower level courses that may be helpful though.
- Health and fitness: Do NOT complete until you have finished your enemy runaway merits, if that's something you're interested in doing. Even if you have, this is pretty useless, honestly, not that many people are going to run away in normal gameplay, and all you get if they can't is a defend.
- History: The museum is a good way to make cash. If you want to trade this one should be in the first 3-4 bachelors you finish at least.
- Law: Helps with busting merits but those are really hard to get until you're 60 nnb anyway. I'd hold off.
- Math: The only reason you would want ammo management is to preserve special ammo, so if you don't really use them there's no reason to get this. Especially avoid if you don't have all the "use ammo" merits.
- Psych: You can progress fine in crimes without it tbh. I'd suggest doing this in the middle. Only reason I did it was because I'm chasing drug merits, like an idiot.
- Self defense: Fists are not that useful, and there's only a few merits for unarmed finishing hits, so I would not prioritize this at all. The passive boosts for the prereqs aren't bad, though.
- Sports science: I cannot stress enough that you have to do this bachelor asap. 1% gym gains may sound small, but it's like compounding interest - adds up fast.

Best time to read my book The Book:Winking To Win? ·

The expert missions are still not super hard, so that's not something I would worry about. The targets are pretty much matched to your battle stats, occasionally you will get one that you can't beat but I honestly didn't really notice a difference in difficulty going up to expert. I personally would wait until you unlocked those as they give more mission credits. Other than that I don't think there is really a right "time." I would assume that amanda missions will come out around the same time as crimes 2.0

How do trader's make money? · · 6 likes

People who buy plushies and flowers typically turn them in for points at the museum. People who buy drugs usually resell them in bulk at a markup, which would be weird IRL, but in Torn it adds value to not have to click on 30 bazaars to buy 100 xanax total in small amounts. People may also sell items lower than they're worth to traders to avoid getting mugged. Profit margins are pretty small for most, but that's the gist of it.

Should I open my drug pack · · 1 like

What I do is calculate the expected value of the pack by looking at the values of what's in them and averaging. The supply pack prices usually hover around this, but my rule of thumb is, if you can sell it for higher than that EV, sell it unopened, and if the EV is higher, then buy as many as you can below that EV to hedge and open them. Has worked pretty well for me. I wouldn't take a gamble like that if you really can't risk it - only gamble money you're willing to lose. The supply packs are basically very simple lootboxes, basically, and imo should be treated as such.
