I received a message from a player called Lonestar, with whom I have had no dealings. Here is a verbatim account of this middle-aged man attempting to bully a teenage girl. Obviously, I'm going to have to delete this account and start again, but as I've only been playing actively for about 5 days, it's probably worth sharing this for the humour value:

At this point I queried why a middle-aged man would go out of his way to bully a new young player out of the game. I haven't heard back yet.  Do you think he thinks this is real, in some way. like he actually thinks he is some sort of kingpin, instead of being some rotund middle-aged bloke who still lives with his Mum and plays torn in lieu of actually having a life? As I said, it doesn't bother me. I'll just start a new character. But it's worth sharing how low self-esteem and not having a life affects some people.

Don't you  just love his big bald head? And his "i live with my mum even though I'm in my 40s persona"? Actually, he looks like he's old enough to be my dad. I hope he isn't. I know my mum got up to some crazy shit but that would be plumbing the depths of depravity.

Anyway. I've left TRT. To be fair, I really like them. But to my credit I didn't leave until Lonestar had stopped bountying me. Actually. Lonestar didn't bounty me. He got one of his lackeys to do it and then to send me an email saying "lonsetar sends his regradss' At least I think that's what it said . It could have beem 'lonestar sends his retards" which would have been more apt.

I can't believe this. The OP may be totally wrong, and he probably is,but he isn't trolling or being aggressive. Now he's being harried from the game by being continually bountied. And all because some sad high level player, presumably with self-esteem issues, didn't like what he said in a forum. See ya, Torn city.

Can I just ask why we need to pay someone to have a bookie? Surely it could just be made up by staffers. It's not like it has to be profitable. An even better option would be to allow players to become bookies, but that would obviously take some serious coding. It would be awesome though, and far better than what we have And much more true to the spirit of Torn, surely?

Great faction for a new player like me. Super supportive and I'm learning a lot!

I was in TRT for a while and they seemed OK. Perhaps one or two of them tale the roleplay element of this game (oh that's right, it's a game, isn't it?) a little far.Not quite the faction I would choose to stay in, but fine if it's your cup of tea.

I never threatened anyone. I just joined a faction you don't like, you insert childish insult here. I had a nice message from someone asking me to join their faction, but I lost it. Mail me. And for the record I am a new player, female and 19. Teenager is pushing it I admit.  I'm a UG at one of Oxford's less prestigious colleges

Standard rules. Try to keep things simple for new players: no shunting allowed and no oblique moves. I'll start:

Never seen Sully post anything but intelligent, if robust, debate. Not the way I'd play the game: I don't have the balls/stupidity ;) But fair play to him. He's made a lot of good points and it's pretty tragic that he is being hounded out of the game for daring to disagree with some high level players.
