I'm not aware of any information out there specifically about retention, but the City Hall does have some graphs you can play with that gives you some vague information about the growth. And it shows that, in general, user activity is on the rise.

Just my two cents: I love these badges! I encourage the development of more for future and past events if possible.

Feedback: I'd love to see more or more obvious visual distinctions for things like elected leaders, placement in comp, top hitters, etc. I think there's a lot of room to be more creative and recognize (AND SHAME) people's involvement. Also, don't be afraid to really shame people with these badges. cough 0-hitters cough
