I can't offer alot of wages but I can offer trains, and, position "rotation" that will allow you to up a work stat you may be low in the immediate goal is getting the 7th star back. After that I can do some employee finesse, But if you just want to be in a good company with good people, the Job Perk that allows you to decrease your education time is clutch.
By being at a fitness center I've sped up my education courses way beyond where they should be at my in game age. This is also due to forsaking companies with tangible monetary perks, like E-Cans and E-DVD's, yeah, money is nice, but the game is all compound interest, the sooner you do your courses, the sooner you get the perks, and the more long term benefit they provide at exponential amounts. If you, or anyone you know in game is floating around and feels inclined to join, send them my way ^_^
We are a good bunch, not fussy, and I am always keeping everyone appraised of where things are ^_^
I have the stocks that give a bonus to me being a director, and after i finish this last course in law, I'll take all the one's that give a boost to being a director.
I'm babysitting this company, but we're making it better than ever.
So if you wanna be in a nice company that will let you grow your work stats, come join us ^_^
Side note, While I dont actually care if my faction gets their 2k hits back that we had when the lag broke our chain, If I don't see the staff address this with good intentions II'll have to cancel my subscription.
I don't like how any of this had been handled, from either side.
But yes, get rid of the event if it breaks the game.
Yeah, the only reason we lost the star was me not having those courses, otherwise we were balanced pretty well, but I put some money into advertising, moved some people around, and adjusted some things and we're been on the up and up ever since

Hmmm..given that I do enjoy Torn, I'll accept these statements and whether they areas valid as they appear, They satisfy me.
Ched-
How do you plan and optimise for a scenario that only happens for a few hours per year? For optimisation you need to be able to experience the issue first, I.e. The equivalent of Torn having x5 as many players than it really does. Automated stress tests certainly don't cut it, or provide any meaningful data.
We have to experience the load, and work while it's happening, or decide to expand hardware in the future after we're aware of it.
Currently, it's just an issue with load balancing, ensuring the correct amount of load is placed on each webserver. We were unaware of this problem before, but we can try to make some changes and see if it helps next time we suddenly have a massive sudden influx of activity.
I really don't think there's any point you guys making simple suggestions without at all being aware of Torn's infrastructure, situation, and having zero data. Suggesting hardware or software methods we already fully utilize... It might look simple to you, but believe me it's not. We've been scouring over data for hours, running tests, while in constant discussion. We have 50 combined years of experience with Torn and its infrastructure, plus an entire devops team helping us out.
I'm happy to keep those who are interested updated however. We resolved the front-end load by adding another temporary webserver. There are optimizations we can make to improve things too, but they'd take at least several weeks to implement as they're quite significant rebuilds.
Now a secondary issues appears to be related to one of our databases, to put it simply, too many queries apparently causing full-database locks which briefly stuns that server. We've literally reached our limit there and there's not many further optimisations we can make. However we can upgrade the database software we use which should help significantly - again this is a really big task to complete carefully, it's been planned for the last 6 months.

Normally I'm the type of chain that as soon as we go free for all, I dump 1000E, do a point refill, a Xanax, and as many coupons as i can fit into my cooldown.
Thankfull, I slept for 14 hours on accident the day this all took a poopy and have had the fortune not to have wasted a single E on this chain lol.
The worst seems over.
In retrospect, my Faction was originally going to chain at NOON on FRIDAY but upon learning that love juice would become active much sooner they opted to start early.
Side note, While I dont actually care if my faction gets their 2k hits back that we had when the lag broke our chain, If I don't see the staff address this with good intentions II'll have to cancel my subscription.

As long as you don't violate actual Vice laws, who gives a f**k, if someones wants to cover their lady lips in electrical tape and tape over their nipples, cool, it's not illegal, if a guy wants to have just his dong and balls in a sock, no pubes, and be in a santa hat holding up a picture of duke drinking a martini, cool.
Welcome to Torn, it's basically Digital Vegas but with more dongs.
