My Christmas

Well, everyone, it’s that time of the year,

Where people sing songs and marvel at the reindeer,

Happiness and joy seems abundant to all,

But what, I ask, lies underneath their wall?

Their torn wall, a facade, we’re not so happy at our core.

The season brings storms we just can’t ignore:

Like meeting with family you don’t want to see

Or the dinner conversations where they tell you who to be.

Or the family squabbles that turn the house cold,

Or the reminder of another year gone, another year old.

Now to be frank I don’t hate Christmas,

I’m not the Grinch, no, nothing so heinous.

I just wonder why wait for such a time to be together,

Might we come together more, we might have an answer,

To solve all of our our issues, problems and conflict.

Do just this, and such an outcome I humbly predict.

The Naegleria Fowleri

We come from the water, unseen but ready.

Ah, here comes our victim.

He dips his head into the water for a swim.

The fool. His fate is sealed.

Swiftly we travel to find our dinner.

We find it. The brain. Does anything compare?

May the meal commence.

First comes the flu-like symptoms.

A headache, a feeling that something is off.

Then the shakes. Then the visions. Then off you go.

I assure you we are very real.

Beware our strength.
