Anyone who has played Torn and paid more than half a corncob's worth of poop's attention to the updates has seen it week after week for years.
Crimes 2.0. Bookie 2.1. Stocks 3.0. Week after week we see promises that these highly anticipated updates are being "worked on" by various developers in the weekly patch updates, and week after week, year after year, we see other mundane features, updates, and tweaks that few people have asked for, being implemented.
Sure, sometimes a blind pig finds an acorn and these tiny little updates hit a sweet spot with the players, and bug fixes and improvements that are greatly needed are welcomed by all, but that's not the point of my post.
Why not just admit that these highly anticipated, greatly needed major changes are weeks, months, or years away, and explain why, instead of teasing us week after week for years and pretending like they're a primary focus of development in the weekly patch announcements? Most of us are not stupid, and some of us have a great deal of experience on projects analogous to this great game of Torn.
Consider a moment of honesty. Tell us where you REALLY are with these projects.
Something is wrong. Maybe egg drops were nerfed but last I checked, NOBODY in torn except ched and another admin had more than 1 egg. Bad luck or not, statistically this speaks something.

I was just about to land on a throat punch, so I navigated away from the page. I did this on purpose, then had someone attack me to see what would happen if I returned to the Wheels to receive my due hospitalization while I was already being attacked. At first, nothing happened. The wheels presented with all the play buttons intact. I clicked Play on the 1 million wheel, and a red error message appeared at the top that said approximately, "You must finish your current spin first."
I then tried the 50k wheel, which I had not spun yet today, and it worked as normal. The fight was then finished by the attacker, who lost, and thinking I'd discovered a way to evade the wheel hosp, it was some minutes later it applied as I idled on the home page not thinking about it.
I don't know if there's a bug or exploit in there to be had, but the whole thing seemed jankey.
Would it be an airy RPG theme, or a cacophony of beats and sounds formed by people being murdered and mugged throughout the streets? Why doesn't torn have music?
It doesn't matter what the intentions are. You don't get to be thought police, as much as you want to. All you fascists will die on your double edged sword.
What you're using to play torn is a client. The server knows what time it is, and is the authority over the game. The server records the time according to itself for all game transactions; your client just displays the time, like many other things, as a convenience. A variety of factors can cause your client to fall out of sync with the server. As others have said, refreshing usually solves this.

So long as access is permitted to computer systems the users do not fully understand, there will always be idiots getting "hacked" (this is not even what hacking means,being an idiot is not getting "hacked."
Also if you need more security for Torn than a bank account, someone is wrong.
