Traveling icon: Display time til landing (125 R+) · · 136 likes

When traveling I spend most of my time in the forums. It would be convenient to be able to tap the traveling glode icon and see how much time I have left until I land.

It's a small thing that would probably not be hard to implement. All the other icons have timers, I don't see why the globe icon shouldn't also have one.

Thanks

Cancel Bank Investment [100 R+] · · 116 likes

I would like an option to cancel a bank investment.

Edit:
Reached 100 R+ so I am going to restate the suggestion based on the comments.

Request (A) - The ability to cancel an investment in the TCB at any time.

Cost - A penalty fee would be deducted from the withdrawn money.
The exact % deducted has been debated, however, it should be significant enough so that people are dissuaded from using the bank as a vault.

Purpose - To assist players who invest too little for too long as they learn the game. Additionally to allow players to invest in other areas of Torn's economy when the opportunities arise.

If request A is not considered.

Request (B) - The ability to cancel an investment in the TCB within a set amount of time after confirming the investment.

Cost - The investment cannot be canceled after the grace period has expired.
The specific grace period has been debated, but again it should be a fairly small window so that it is not used as short term money storage.

Purpose - To fix mistakes that are made dispite the confirmation click.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback and R+. If you have more comments go ahead and post them. I will post this in the bugs and issues forum later today or tomorrow.

Crimes 2.0 Halloween themed outcomes · · 106 likes

- Update - (Halloweek '25)

The TCT article says there are rare finds of a Cleaver and Meat Hook in the cemetery during Halloweek.

Suggestion: Make certain crime outcomes spooky, especially in the Cemetery (search for cash)

Purpose: To include some nerve related activities during Halloween week, and to create a spooky atmosphere to the city of Torn.

VVVVV From November 2024 VVVVV

I've decided to just focus my idea specifically on the Cemetery (search for cash) crime.

These outcomes would replace the normal Cemetery, Search for Cash outcomes, for the duration of the Halloween Event.

During groundskeeping hours (9:00-17:00, 25% success)

[successes]

+1 wooden stake (tool item) (55% drop rate)

+1 mistletoe (5% drop rate)

+1 rope (10% drop rate)

+6 candles (10% drop rate)

+2 salt shakers (10% drop rate)

+1 gasoline (10% drop rate)

[failures]

These would remain as the regular crime outcomes during groundskeeping hours

After groundskeeping hours (17:00-9:00, 75% success)

[Successes]

Defeat a Skeleton

+1 bone OR +1 human skull (60/40)

(1 in 10,000 chance of getting 1 petrified humerus)

Defeat a Zombie

+1 bone OR +1 wooden stake (40/60)

(1 in 100,000 chance of getting 1 zombie brain)

Defeat a Vampire

-1 wooden stake

+1 casket OR +1 vampire heart (50/50)

(1 in 1,000,000 chance of getting 1 Egyptian amulet)

Defeat a Witch

(Banishing ritual)

-1 mistletoe (used to help subdue the witch)

-1 rope (to tie up the witch)

-1 wooden stake (to tie the witch to)

-5 bones (arranged as a stick man)

-1 human skull (placed at the head of the stick man)

-1 vampire heart (placed in the middle of the stick man)

-2 salt shakers (used to make a circle of salt around the stick man and the witch)

-6 candles (placed in a triangle around the stick man and the witch)

-1 gasoline (used to burn the stick man and destroy the witch)

+1 cauldron OR +1 witch's cauldron (70/30)

(1 in 10,000 chance of getting 1 poison mistletoe)

(1 in 100,000 chance of getting 1 human head)

(1 in 1,000,000 chance of getting 1 witch's hat)

(1 in 10,000,000 chance of getting 1 Voodoo doll)

[Failures]

Defeated by a Skeleton

-5% life

Crit (if you have no shovel) adds 30 minutes of hospital time

Defeated by a Zombie

-10% life

Crit (if you have no jemmy) adds 20 minutes of radiation

Defeated by a Vampire

-10 nerve

Crit (if you have no rosary beads) adds -99% total life

Defeated by a Witch =

-20 nerve

Crit (if you have no mistletoe) adds -10 energy

Odds of encountering each creature (success or failure)

Skeleton = 45%

Zombie = 40%

Vampire = 10%

Witch = 5%

(vampire and witch will not spawn as a success option if you don't have the right items)

- if missing the wooden stake, then zombies will be 50%

- if missing the ritual items, then skeletons will be 50%

VVVVV From January 2024 VVVVV

UPDATE:
Apparently in this news article, ched confirmed special outcomes for crimes during holidays.

Quote:
"Will unique outcomes be stuck at a fixed amount, or will they add more later on, during events/holidays for example? - Juvada"

"We do have plans to throw out some outcomes that are only available during certain holidays / events, but there are no specifics we can share with you as yet. These won't be unique outcomes, however, to avoid confusion regarding the number of uniques available throughout the rest of the year."

So it looks like this will happen regardless of whether or not this thread his 250 R+. Either way I'll keep bumping it so we can add our ideas in case ched is interested in the community's take.

VVVVV From December 2023 VVVVV

NOTE:
As I've thought about this more, I think I'd like to really focus on Cemetery Search for Cash crime for a few reasons.

1) It's the most obvious spooky place.
2) It's accessible to young players with less crime experience.
3) It gives advanced players a reason to revisit an earlier crime.

I'm also thinking instead of giving rewards similar in value to other sfc outcomes, these spooky outcomes would be more high risk, high reward. So you would get higher value items than you normally would in sfc, but also have a higher chance of failure (likely resulting in loss of life). This would give people a reason to actually search the Cemetery instead of their regular high reward crime.

Moved flavor text ideas here

Edits:
- Made it into an official suggestion, rather than a discussion about Halloween crimes.

- Added my thoughts on focusing on Cemetery Search for Cash crime.

- Added update with ched's confirmation of holiday crime outcomes.

- Moved flavor text ideas to a later post

- Added creatures to defeat

New Education - Spirituality · · 87 likes

Below is an idea for a new education program that focuses on spiritual practices. There are currently not any education courses that provide these kinds of perks, (phychology being the closest). I believe this would provide perks to aid a variety of play styles, especially those players who don't focus heavily on combat.

Courses are numbered, with sub classes ordered by letter.

Spirituality

(1)
Introduction to Spirituality
Here you'll learn the basic principles of what governs the spiritual world.

Work stats gained:
- Gain 30 intelligence upon completion

Parameters:
- Length: 7 days
- Cost: $300

(2. a)
Concentration
Before you can advance further into spiritual practices, you'll need to learn to focus your attention instead of constantly distracting yourself with games.

Learning outcome:
- Your awareness is increased by 10%

Work stats gained:
- Gain 50 intelligence upon completion

Parameters:
- Length: 14 days
- Cost: $700

(2. b)
Meditation
In this course you will practice the art of stillness and quiet, which makes it easier to connect with the spiritual realm.

Learning outcome:
- The effects of praying in the church are increased by 10%

Work stats gained:
- Gain 50 endurance upon completion
- Gain 30 intelligence upon completion

Parameters:
- Length: 21 days
- Cost: $1,000

(2. c)
Rejuvenation
As you learn to connect your body and soul, you will discover that you can more quickly recover from life's disappointments.

Learning outcome:
- Gain +1% life regeneration

Work stats gained:
- Gain 25 endurance upon completion
- Gain 50 intelligence upon completion

Parameters:
- Length: 28 days
- Cost: $1,300

(3. a)
Blessing Fish
There are many types of blessings, but some of the well known ones involve multiplying fish. You may not be able to exactly replicate this blessing, but by the end of this course you will be well on your way.

Learning outcome:
- There will be a 6% chance of a Trout respawning on the turn immediately after it is used.

Work stats gained:
- Gain 50 manual labor upon completion
- Gain 30 endurance upon completion

Parameters:
- Length: 21 days
- Cost: $1,200

(3. b)
Blessing the Infirm
If you already know how to perform the miracle of reviving someone, then learning this blessing will give you a small boost of confidence.

Learning outcome:
- Your revive skill increases by 1.

Working stats gained:
- Gain 50 manual labor upon completion
- Gain 30 intelligence upon completion

Parameters:
- Length: 28 days
- Cost: $1,800

(4. a)
Moderation
You probably know the saying, "all things in moderation" or "too much of a good thing is a bad thing." In this course, you'll put it into practice, and hopefully limit your risk of over consumption.

Learning outcome:
- Gain 5% drug overdose chance reduction

Working stats gained:
- Gain 70 endurance upon completion

Parameters:
- Length: 21 days
- Cost: $2,100

(4. b)
Fasting
It seems difficult at first, but soon you'll benefit from increased focus as you become unburdened by earthly appetites.

Learning outcome:
- You gain +2 accuracy with every weapon whenever the booster timer is 00:00

Working stats gained:
- Gain 100 endurance upon completion

Parameters:
- Length: 28 days
- Cost: $2,700

(5)
Feng Shui
This is the art of organizing a space for the best flow of energy. As you learn to orient your home to your chi, you'll notice a positive improvement in your mood.

Learning outcome:
- Gain +1% maximum happiness

Working stats gained:
- Gain 30 manual labor upon completion
- Gain 30 endurance upon completion
- Gain 30 intelligence upon completion

Parameters:
- Length: 28 days
- Cost: $1,500

(6)
Religious Relics
Every religion has their relics. You'll be learning what they are, and more importantly which ones have the highest market value, so that you can keep an eye out for them.

Learning outcome:
- Gain a slightly higher chance to find Sculptures or Scripts in the city

Working stats gained:
- Gain 130 intelligence upon completion

Parameters:
- Length: 35 days
- Cost: $3,000

(7)
Bachelors of Spiritual Practices
When you combine all of these spiritual practices, you will find that you can be a healthier person.

Learning outcome:
- Gain +3% max life

Working stats gained:
- Gain 40 manual labor upon completion
- Gain 50 endurance upon completion
- Gain 60 intelligence upon completion

Parameters:
- Length: 42 days
- Cost: $7,000

I tried not to go too crazy with any effects, and mostly drew from perks that are already implemented in the game.

Edit 1: Grammar

Edit 2: removed the following from the intro course.
"Learning outcome:
- Your current karma (possitve or negative) is increased by 10%"

Edit 3: changed Blessing Fish to be 6% chance, because it's less crazy than 30%.

Slowing down

I'm sad to say after almost 2 years of running a 24/7/365  $1 bazaar, I am no longer keeping regular stock.

Due to irl commitments and burnout, I'm having to slow down my Torn playtime as a whole. I will still stock some stuff when I can but not nearly as much and not as often.

A history

In fall of 2024 when the item market changed and bazaars became sort of useless I decided to use my Bazaar as a raffle giveaway geared towards helping new players. I had fun adding holiday themed items and I enjoyed organizing my bazaar based on esthetics.

In 2025 I was in the top of the newspaper rankings and even got a shout out in a TCT article. However, the age of $1 bazaars was short lived as the directory and scripts were added. I still enjoyed fighting to stay on the $1 roster in the directory, but lost some of the original motivation.

The removal of the 100 item weapon purchase from city shops is what really did me in. I was now faced with a grind of buying cheap items to give away and restocking my bazaar was becoming a chore.

A few years ago I took a 2 year break from Torn due to burnout and I don't want to burn out again. So I'm stepping back from my $1 bazaar. I'll still keep it open, and keep the $888,888 Yuccas for whoever still wants to donate.

I'm so thankful to everyone who donated over these past years and the almost 1500 people who favorited my bazaar.

On some crimes yes you can average more. But those are not repeatable. It's usually a couple Disposals, half a dozen Arsons (if you follow Daily Arsons), a few Scamming targets if you get lucky, and maybe some cracking.

In general the good $/N crimes are limited to several a day. So it depends on how much nerve you spend per day. Maybe those few crimes take up your daily allowance of nerve, but if you spend a large amount of nerve daily on crimes (about 525N for me), then you'll need a reliable back up crime to dump your nerve into.

Forgery items? Are they worth? ·

Everyone hates on forgery but I've found it to be a solid choice for consistent low risk $/N.

Bank Checks are my Go-To.

$15-$20k for the Bank Statement

30 nerve

Only one 1 minute wait timer

Very low fail rate

I can crank these out easy all day long. No long waits, no lost stampers.

You can sell to the shop for $180k which gives you about $5,300/N. But obviously they will have higher value than that once they have a use.

Your gas must be better than mine. I needed to hit it with hydrogen after I started it in order to get it to 42 before the police arrived.

Edit: I missed the flamethrower piece. My fault for not reading. Could you maybe just add "w/ FT" in the "ingite" section of your process?

Also why hydrogen for the casino? It's an insurance job.

Edit:

Nvm I just looked it up and apparently hydrogen has the same suspicion as oxygen, only +1.

This is a wierd (hopefully short) phase where we can use items abroad but can't take them from Torn. This made me wonder...

What is the best country to travel to for RW?

Here are my top picks and why. What are your thoughts?

#4 CANADA

- Short flight time

- Xanax for energy

- Safety Boots for some armor

- Ice Pick as a melee

#3 UK

 - Xanax for energy

 - WWII Helmet for armor

 - Flail and Claymore for melee

 - Grenades and Stick Grenades

#2 JAPAN

- Xanax for energy & opium for medding out

- Flexible Body Armor for armor

- Kodachi and Metal Nunchaku for melee

Thoughts: Best for chain watching due to Xanax and solid melee options

#1 SA

- Xanax for energy & opium for medding out

- Full Combat Armor set

- Smoke Grenades

- Only Spear and Brass Knuckles for melee

Thoughts: Best for hiding due to lots of armor and smoke grenade and low level melee weapons available for attackers.

Which country do you think is best to travel to for RW?
