I've got him more or less blocked on every avenue, reported, and bountied. Just be careful, y'all. This guy seems kinda psychotic and obsessive. Probably was neglected as a child or something. Or drank too much TORN tap water. If he's conducting a campaign of harassment, I suggest reporting, blocking, and bountying.

Been playing for a few years now. Beer has gotten very difficult to buy officially. It's getting about 1k-4k in price in the item market. I'm trying to DRINK my beer for crimes, not re-sell it.

Big Al can't import enough beer to keep his customers stocked and it's frustrating when I CAN'T BUY MY BEER BECAUSE ITS GONE AFTER FIVE SECONDS! ARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!

I think we need our own TORN built brewery to keep TORN supplied with own freakin booze. Add some side effects or something to reflect the low quality of something brewed with the remnants of beer cans and beer bottles found in the dump.

Just think about it. OR GIVE AL SOME BULK SUPPLIERS. I'm sure SOMEONE in CHINA could sell him some FAKE LOW QUALITY BEER or something to make up for the volume!

There's a lot of guides out there that have a lot of good advice. So I'd look around at those too.
What there isn't out there is a guide on making your first million.

EASY WAYS
There's a easy few ways to do this. The first three are just gambling and getting your feet wet. You'll need a few thousand dollars to get off the ground.

1. Sell items you find at the dump. They're not valuable (most of the time), but when you only make the starter job money... People diss on the dump, but you CAN find valuable things here. Don't use a lot of energy here.

2. Search the city periodically. Free items are good items and it takes no energy.

3. Play the forum games. Specifically, the Give a Gift to the Person Above You thread. You might get lucky and get something SWEET. You might also get a brick. So give some, get some. This is essentially gambling.

4. Get a job! Passive incomes are nice. The casino route pays well. The army route doesn't, but levels the stats quicker. Get hired in a company. For more information on how get a BETTER job, see the wiki. It's very helpful.

Getting a job at some company will give you a little cash to play around with.


1. SHOP OPERATION: PHASE I

EVERY ITEM HAS A VALUE OUTSIDE OF THE STORES. CHECK THE ITEM STATS TO SEE WHAT IT SELLS FOR ON THE ITEM MARKET.

BOB'S and the CANDY STORE are particularly good for this.

LIMITING IMPORTANT NOTE: You can only buy 100 items per day from the shops.

Ever wonder why Bob ain't ever got no beer? 'Cuz everyone keeps buying it up! It's expensive on the item market AND it restores some nerve. At 10$ a bottle you can sell that on the open market for around 700$. Buy 100. Sell for a little under 70k. When it's in stock. You'll pay a fee of 3%. But it's not much and it's better than nothing when you're starting out.
Can't find beer? Sell bricks.
Can't find bricks? Sell plushies.
Can't find plushies? Sell soap.
Can't find soap? Sell candy.

Get the drift? Ok.

ANOTHER NOTE: Don't buy the things that don't have a value above what the shop sells it for. Those things don't sell well.

PHASE II of the SHOP OPERATION:

FIND/ATTRACT ATTENTION OF DIRECT BUYERS.

Do this enough and you'll attract attention.

Eventually, someone might reach out to you in order to buy in bulk through the trade menu. This bypasses the market fees and makes it less likely you'll get mugged.
You'll have to be careful about who you trade with. There are guides out there that go into this a lot more.

That's basically it on the shop operation. Make money, stow most of it into your piggy bank. Make money, stow most of it. You did get the piggy bank? No? GO GET IT.
Also helps to keep a low profile.


 

.:PHASE III: Expansion and manipulating taking advantage of the item market:.

It's good to find a faction with a bank. Do that before doing this.


This is time consuming. Remember those contacts from Phase I? They all got buy lists. Find out what the prices are on their buy list, then start buying up stuff on the item market for prices below the buy list. It takes patience and luck. Don't sweat it if someone buys the stuff before you click on it. People are posting things for sale all the time.

You could also just buy low, and sell high on the item market but that attracts attention.

So you're cycle is gonna look like this:
Buy stuff for below buy list, sell to trader, put money in bank but leave enough to buy more stuff, rinse lather repeat. You'll get mugged a few times. That's why you don't have more than what you need to buy things.

Eventually you'll do crimes. Start small. Copy CD's 150-200 times. See those guides for more info. People say rob for jackets, but I say rob for boxes of chocolate.

When you get enough criminal experience to rob the candy store without getting arrested all the time, rob the candy store for chocolate boxes. You'll take a nerve hit every once in a while, but you can just go back to selling fake dvd's for a few rounds and then go back to stealing chocolate.

Why? Because those things sell for 2900$ on the open item market. Just use your nerve, get those, and sell them. They sell like hotcakes.
