Many travelers plan trips to distant locations for the periods when they will be away from their devices and not able to participate in City activities. The shorter trips are often used in between City activities, such as initiating organized crimes or working out or claiming your energy drink cans. Currently there are a number of nearby cities that are close together in flight times, but then there is a gap.
Using standard air time as the guide, it is a 26 minute trip to Mexico, a 35 minute trip to the Cayman Islands and a 41 minute trip to Canada. The next location, though not very far away, is Hawaii. However, that trip is 2 hours 14 minutes from Torn.
For those of us with private air strips, those times are Mexico 18, Cayman Islands 25, Canada 29, and Hawaii 1 hour 34 minutes.
What is being suggested is a location with travel time that falls between the Canada and Hawaii trips. I would suggest that Alaska would be a great location. The plushie available could be the polar bear. Alaska's state flower is the forget-me-not. The collectors and Traders would greatly enjoy adding these new items into the list. There could be items sold such as snowballs. The there could be Harpoon guns. And just as South Africa has big game hunting, perhaps Alaska could have sled dog racing.
There are lots of possibilities with that new location, and the travel time would allow many visits for those who prefer shorter trips.
I go to a local game cafe. Originally I went for D&D, but now have expanded into board games. My cafe does a lot of "learn to play" sessions that expose people to a variety of games. I find that I tend to like ones that are not overly complicated but have little twists. My new favorite is Fort which I'd say is a deckbuilder/inventory management combination game. How about you?
We've recently begun paying our faction members a portion of their OC income provided they meet chaining requirements each week. The Pay Day process itself takes some time because the amounts paid among the faction members vary based on their crimes. I sort my tracking sheet by amount, then click the first 2 or 3 names, enter the amount, verify - and then repeat the process for each amount being paid.
I would suggest that the process be streamlined if possible. That a field is next to each name in the list where their payday amount can be entered if there are unique amounts. Just one verification needed.
And for those who counter with - but we pay the same amount to everyone - well maybe a checkbox for "all payments are the same" which will enable an amount to be entered once.
Part of the appeal of Torn to most is that you can log in, do your stuff, and leave. Adding in pet responsibilities increases online time needed. But for some, I could see the appeal. Me, I'd want the pet, and then it'd die.
We did payouts for a little while. It was my idea, so I was in charge. Kept a spreadsheet of everyone's OC participation and the results of the crimes. Faction kept X%, and the remainder divvied up among the participants according to their crimes. Then at the end of the month I sorted the payout sheet by total so that I could make payments to multiple people at a time. So, automating it is a good idea in my mind - but it also needs to have the control of how much gets distributed. If the entire crime loot goes to the members, there's nothing left for the faction to spend (weapons, drugs, meds, upgrades).
But I'm not talking about an "energy sink"... that implies using it for the sake of using it. It would be nice to be able to use it how we want. Not all of us randomly attack.
So many times when we're traveling, especially if it's a long flight (I'm looking at you, UAE and SA), our energy maxes during the flight. What if there were foreign gyms? We could do a quick workout in the gym, then fly home, rebuilding energy reserves while we fly. They wouldn't need to be heavy powered gyms - maybe just at the power of the jail gym - but they would give us something to do with our energy. And, of course, there would be a membership fee attached.
I find the feature of increasing levels of return interesting. Buy x stocks to open level 1 of the dividend. Now you can buy x more to go to level 2. Stacking is a nice feature. Being told the timing of return is nice too. Before it was random and you were left wondering. Most companies in real life pay their dividends on a regular schedule, so why shouldn't Torn?
I'm a dragonborn sorcerer in my current campaign. I played a half-orc paladin/warlock and tons of halflings and gnomes. Was starting a campaign as a Leonine monk who was bound to become awesome, but that got put on hold when we went virtual and split into some small zoom groups.
Yea, Kickstarter has been my friend and enemy. LOL. Every time I say I'm not doing it again, a new game pops up. All production/shipping has been delayed by the virus, but it looks like I'm getting kickstarter packages in December, January, and February. LOL
As someone who spent the first half of this year undergoing chemo for colon cancer, this shook me. It is hard seeing someone young hit with the disease, knowing that he did nothing to bring it on. He fought so hard and hit it so well. RIP
