Smuggling Contraband via Plushies (High-Risk Travel Update)
The Core Concept: Right now, travel is relatively safe and predictable. You fly, you buy plushies/flowers, you come back, and you sell them. I suggest a new mechanic that introduces a high-risk, high-reward alternative: Smuggling drugs inside plushies.
This would bridge the gap between low-risk plushie running and the high-risk reality of a crime syndicate game.
How the Mechanic Would Work:
The Preparation: A new item is added to the market or faction armory: Seamstress Kit (or similar tool).
The Trip: While abroad, if you have the kit, you can choose to "Stitch" a drug item bought overseas (like Xanax from South Africa or LSD from Switzerland) inside a local plushie. This merges the two items into a single inventory item (e.g., Stuffed Camel)., ] [
The Benefit: Doing this hides the drug from basic checks, and allows you to bypass the standard inventory carry limit for drugs by utilizing your plushie capacity slots. (Doubles carry capacity)
The Risk (The Balance):
There is a flat X% chance upon landing back in Torn City that Customs busts you.
If busted, you lose the drugs, the plushies, and face a mandatory jail sentence based on the quantity smuggled.
Alternatively, maybe a new passive tracking stat or a "Customs Alert Level" ticks up the more you do it consecutively.
Also could have an education course that allows for other items to be 'packed' with drugs, allowing some less grabbed higher cost 'larger' items to hold more drug slots than a plushie.
Why this is good for the game economy:
Risk vs Reward: Adds genuine tension to landing back in Torn.
Item Sink: Creates a demand for new smuggling tools/kits and potentially for a new variety of items to flood the market as a 'contraband versions' where the drugs are still in the plushie as a 'pack'
Faction Dynamic: Factions could unlock perks in the excursion branch that reduce the chance of getting caught by Customs.
