Fello there, Torn citizens. -w-/ I’ve been thinking about how to turn the chaos dial up a notch, and wanted to propose a new drug to the game.
Honestly, I made this post because I tossed around a cheeky idea in global chat about a “megadrug” with a 50/50 chance of sending you straight to the hospital. A couple admins found it funny and one pointed me to this forum. So I thought I’d give it a shot.
Introducing... Pure Caffeine (what I came up with at the time)
Effects: +500 Energy, +200 Happy, +50% to Speed, -50% to Defense and Dexterity
Cooldown: 540-720 minutes, 40 Addiction Points
Overdose: -100% to Energy, Nerve & Happy, 7,200 minutes hospital stay (5 days), cooldown extended by 12-24 hours, permanent -1% to a random battle stat (edit: ignore this)
Description:
“They said you couldn’t weaponize energy? Well, guess what? Welcome to the age of Pure Caffeine! Why didn’t we think of this sooner? Who cares?! One snort of this wonder powder has been known to make people feel like they can sprint through walls and suplex dumpsters. You’ll be buzzing so hard your teeth might vibrate right out of your mouth, but don’t worry, you won’t feel a thing! However, if you overdo it, your heart might just file a restraining order.”
Honor Bar: Jitter Junkie (Use 50)
So whaddya say, peeps? Who’s ready to embrace the chaos? Let's go gambling!
Fello. Yehp. Exactly what it says on the tin. Coined a silly little name for it.
Year Day. Essentially the anniversary of when you created your account, calculated in days, marking a personal milestone, and a neat coincidence
2024 is the current year. And as of today, I had created my account 2024 days ago.
I suppose everyone can only really get one of these. Unless you happened to make an account on a December 31, then you'll be lucky enough to get two. ^^
When was (or will be) your Year Day? Do you think this should be a thing? I think it would be a nice little thing to acknowledge long-term users.
Thought it was neat so i made a post about it. Yee.
Could we consider adding the current amount of an item you own directly within shop interfaces (both in Torn shops and when buying abroad)? It's be a great QoL improvement that saves us from checking the Items page as often.
P.S. I once asked the TornTools people a similar question related to plushie and flower sets, but they said it's not possible to call item amounts anymore. What's up with that?
I have a question on that then. Why not just make it not instant? Click "Buy Max" and wait a few seconds, I dunno. See, I don't like having carpal tunnel syndrome, so having to click or tap (I have to play mobile at the moment) 75/150 times in quick succession does hurt.
I understand the balance perspective, but Ched's reason just seems a little silly. People who want to play lotto will play lotto, and people who want to play other games will play other games. I genuinely don't think it'll take that much away.
I have the same issue, except I have issues in my hand—I hold down the [Enter] key after highlighting the button to buy tickets to ease the pain of spam-clicking. Been doing it for several months, before I started getting this message since a couple days ago.
TEMPORARY BLOCK This error has been generated because you have made too many requests in the last minute. You will be able to access Torn again in 47 seconds.
102k MAN | 22k INT | 117k END | EE +6 Active player looking for positions to train INT. This is non-negotiable. Will stay long term if the position is good. Willing to buy trains for INT (via switching positions).
Interesting suggestion. Though I'd also suggest lowering the EDVD cost to 15 job points. That way, while it'd cost the same amount of time for a 7-star to get, a 10-star would get way more out out of it due to it costing 5 points less, keeping the incentive to be better there.

Yeeeah. To be honest, I kinda wanted to do my own thing. I dunno, though it'd would be cool. Also, I'm not exactly the most social or free to post, but I won't dig into that here.

Okay, to be fair, I didn’t consider the different stat groups that way, and I only did some light math. At most, the lower E gain over time compared to Xanax was intentional.
(Xanax OD Total E Loss Potential: 600-660 E | Caffeine OD Total E Loss Potential: 420-720 E) Not counting hospital stay time. You gotta remember that a lot of people aren't staying in the hospital unless they choose to.
I really appreciate the feedback. I’m inclined to remove the permanent stat drop and just make it a funny coin-flip drug. The gamble alone should make it memorable and fun to see who’s willing to take the bet, haha.
I wanna make the intent clear that I want to strike a balance between power and risk. Too powerful (or too little risk) and the risk would just be negligible. 500E is really good, and only one item in the game gives that, at zero risk. So the original idea was a 50/50 OD chance with a 1% stat drop on OD, I thought about people with stats in the billions, I want them to be willing to chance it, but less willing to abuse it.
Also, this idea was partially inspired by the Expired Medicine in Buckshot Roulette.
But it might be too harsh. I'm willing to hear other suggestions, but here's a couple of compromises I'm thinking of: - Taking 0.25% from all battle stats, instead of 1% from a single stat, - Having a—say—1 in 6 chance to OD, instead of 50%?
