Developers tend to have access to ALL things across the server.  To claim a level of privacy that negates the necessity of security personnel authority in the matter is just shooting yourself in the dick and asking everyone else to stop the bleeding.

This goes for ANY site or server. Do you think any other social media is secure enough where your past isn't indefinitely copied and distributed? Dude, your own cell phone isn't even secure enough to prevent a friend from finding out what you sent if they own the plan.

I am a bit reluctant only because I wish for him to be able to move on with life with as little embarrassment as possible, but I also acknowledge that he may want the story out there just to teach others the danger of following in his footsteps, so to speak.

On a serious note, there was a guy on here who once spent what can only be described as an immeasurably unhealthy amount of cash on this game, so much so that he came out in forums to get help. If I remember correctly, this is the only case to do so, and they helped reimburse him for quite a good lot of it.

If that's the only person in 20 years that has come out in forums about it, I am hard-pressed to even imagine the amount of people that have done this before and remained silent.

And while I'm all for helping people, you can't help people who keep poking holes in their ship instead of finding an oar.
