Hello everyone,
**EDIT** We are LIVE and looking for factions to test this out. You can sign up your faction here - https://www.factioncomms.com The first 5 factions that signup will get to utilize this for 4 months for free. I will help walk you through end user setup and anything else, all I ask is for honest feedback. You will get access to your own portal to manage your discord webhook, sendout user scripts for TamperMonkey to your users, etc. I have removed the message tool and simplified it by you giving the campaign a title and it will generate the message ID that you will then place within your Faction Newsletter.
Again, we do not see, access, store anything. We only check for the [FCOMMS_ID:XXXX] and that's it. Then the client sends a responce to the backend and you get a report with who read, who hasn't and who clicked what button.
I’ve been working on a tool designed to improve faction communication, particularly during wars and coordinated events where timing and clarity matter.
The goal is simple: make sure important faction messages are actually seen, understood, and acknowledged. I would also like to implement additional features in the future, but one faction problem at a time...
---
Overview
FactionComms allows members to respond directly to faction messages inside Torn using three options:
Accept
Disagree
Don’t Understand
These responses are recorded in real time and visible to faction leadership through a separate dashboard.
There is no need to leave Torn or open external pages to respond. Everything happens within the message interface.
---
Problem This Solves
Most factions run into the same issue:
- Members miss messages
- Instructions are unclear or misunderstood
- Leaders have no visibility into who actually read or understood orders
- One less app to navigate to, it's all within the screen.
During wars, this leads to poor coordination, missed chains, and avoidable mistakes.
FactionComms addresses this by giving leaders immediate insight into:
- Who has opened a message
- Who has responded
- Who needs clarification
- Who has not engaged at all
---
How It Works
- A lightweight userscript (Tampermonkey) adds response buttons directly into Torn messages
- Messages include a small identifier that allows the script to recognize and track them ( it would be something like [FCOMMS_ID:Test123)
- Users manually select their response
- Responses are sent to a backend dashboard for tracking and analysis
There is no automation of gameplay actions. All interaction is manual.

API Key Usage and Security
FactionComms requires a Torn API key during onboarding to verify user identity and faction membership.
The required level is Limited Access.
Reason for Limited Access:
- It is the lowest level that reliably provides player ID and faction membership
- Lower levels such as Minimal Access may not consistently return required data
- Higher levels such as Full Access are not needed and are not used
Important points:
- The API key is used only for initial verification
- The system retrieves player ID and faction ID
- The API key is not stored long-term
- No financial, inventory, or personal account data is accessed or recorded
- The tool does not read or store message content
- it ONLY turns on within the messages URL to look for that key message indicator.
After verification, the system uses its own authentication token and no longer relies on the API key.
---
Compliance and Design Approach
The tool is designed to stay within Torn’s rules:
- No automation of gameplay
- No actions performed on behalf of the user
- No interference with game mechanics
- No scraping or excessive API usage
It is strictly a communication and tracking layer built on top of the existing message system.
---
Current Status
The system is almost functional and I will be testing it within a live faction environment. "Ours"
Core features are in place:
- In-message response buttons
- Real-time response tracking
- Leader dashboard visibility
---
I am looking for feedback from other players and factions on:
- Usefulness in real scenarios
- Feature suggestions
- Any concerns regarding implementation or compliance
If you are interested in testing it with your faction or want more details, feel free to reply here or message me in-game.
---
Goal
The goal is to make faction communication more reliable, especially during high-pressure situations like wars, where coordination is critical.
Appreciate any feedback.
Some of these photos are renders to get the point across. The in-game portion is working, I'm just ironing out some backend issues. I am not an avid programmer, my day job is an ethical hacker and I own my own MSSP. But, I will make sure your data is safe haha.
