5 days ago, i made a forum post reaching out to the torn community looking for volunteers to help represent us on the r/place canvas:
(see thread
here)
here is the story of how it went:
on the 20th of July, Reddit announced r/place, a big canvas where every person gets to place one pixel every 5 minutes.
we started off with just a few people we build this:
[image: cdn.discordapp.com]i wasn't much, but it is a good start.
however, we were later invaded by the Twenty One Pilots fans that were above us, their community was big and we were small, thus we had to relocate. it was the laws of nature. the strong consumes the weak. This was our first taste of the cruel reality in this pixelated battleground.
as time went on, more people joined the effort to represent torn, and we were able to quickly build another logo elsewhere on the canvas:
[image: cdn.discordapp.com]this time, we even had enough space to fit both "Torn" and "City" in our territory. we began to defend it and try to look for space to expand our logo, but then, disaster struck.
we were taken over by the Nagatoro community, which was much bigger than ours.
as revenge, we spent the rest of the day changing their text from "I <3 TORO" to "I <3 TORN"
[image: cdn.discordapp.com]but we cant hold on to our past grudges forever, we had to move on.
we tried another time, but we were once again taken over:

with our combined efforts, we managed to build our biggest and bestest logo yet
:
[image: media.discordapp.net]this time, not only did we write "TORN CITY" we also drew torn's most iconic weapon, the golden ak, as well as torn's beautiful skyline. all encapsulated within the confines of 400 pixels.
but then, hours later, we were attacked by a league of legend streamer called "mac", and she began to assembly her army of league players to take over our space.
we fought hard, but even our years of experience with ranked wars and chains could not compete with the league players, after all, one cannot kill something that has no life.
eventually, we were completely covered, not a trace of our existence remained.
this was a crushing defeat, with the event possibly ending in the next few hours. we were all exhausted.
after a period of rest, we decided to go again.
this time, we made our masterpiece:
[image: cdn.discordapp.com]3d letters, a beautiful GAK. it doesn't get much better than this.
all our combined effort grew into this beautiful piece of art. we were able to defend it till the very end, forever cementing torn in the history of the internet.
this was a story of failure and triumph, teamwork and ambition, a journey fueled by sheer will.
thanks to all those to helped represent torn on r/place this year, i hope that we can work together again next year!
and to all the people who were trying to make it "porn.cum", i love yall too
