Ched and his goons took away most community events, destroyed merc services, forbade advertising for others (great noob revenue stream), tanked flying income, killed our in-game faction chat due to it still working wonkily for 30-40% of players among 4 WTF factions and is now kicking traders in the balls on top of taxing everyone. Literally adding an arrow that'd allow us to scroll bazaars instead of this bullshit would be 10x higher QoL change.
It can't be even called a tax, since real taxes serve some purpose. This is done just to create a money sink, reduce the Torn $ in circulation and drive up more DP sales.
So yeah, after all those anti-playerbase changes, I'm not supporting Torn financially anymore. Still playing since my friends are here, but why would I pay someone actively trying to f**k up their own game?
DPs are here regardless, since some people will always buy them. Increasing the demand will at most make them pricier, making more whales choose selling them to people instead of pawn shop.

In light of what bogie said about the amounts of money generated from crimes 1.0, I doubt we will be having very profitable crimes, as to avoid the market crashes. I think that Mike1988's suggestion about crimes influencing other parts of the game might be valid, as to avoid crimes being click-and-repeat mechanic again.
And yes, despite them being more fun right now, that's what crimes still become after a short while of doing them. You figure out how they work at the few initial levels, then it's just mindless clicking towards 100, let's not kid ourselves.
I am highlighting something that I am afraid might become an issue if a trend I noticed continues. It's not directed with an intention of whining, but feedback and call for discussion. Of course you can perceive it however you wish.
I think you misunderstood my point. I even especially mentioned that simply more money generated would not be a solution. It's just that I don't feel like I'm doing a "better" crime when it comes to anything after Burglary. The feeling of progression is important to me as a player, and the latest crimes seem to be a downgrade or just of similar level instead of an actual upgrade. Main reason I'm writing is to voice that feeling and my concern over the possibility of the trend continuing with future crimes. It is just a possibility though.
Crimes 1.0 being the second largest money generator is surprising and kinda fascinating to me, thanks for sharing that. I do understand that there are many risks to balance, as I've personally lost money due to Caffeine Con crashing (or rather, prices not rising as much as usual) after Burglary was introduced. I'm just pointing out that instead of progressively better, Hustling, Disposal and Cracking seem like a dip compared to Burglary gains. It might be isolated occurence or the effect of me and a few people I've talked about this misunderstanding their systems, but I worry about the future crimes considering the trend. Since I have no other way of knowing, I prefer to voice the concern.
Ofc that's only when speaking about their generated gains, in terms of fun they are pretty good. Disposal has some great text descriptions, Hustling was fun to figure out, even though it quickly devolves into mindless clicking, and Cracking is just all around good fun in terms of both building the rig and guessing the passwords.
And I am absolutely fine with waiting if it means they come out more polished and well balanced. Waiting and not being let down is a lot better than getting something generic.
I mean money is a HUGE factor all around in Torn. Sure, some people have hobbies like collecting bricks and whatnot, but if you're playing to become strong / make your faction strong, you're focused on training and warring. How do you train faster? Money. Whether you buy cans, FHCs or SEs, it's always money that is your bottleneck.
I will say that crimes being their own mini-games is a GREAT thing. All the glory and merit to Ched, bogie and the dev team for that, I enjoy it very much (except for Pickpocketing, whoever programmed this, I hope you stub your little toe very often). But aside from merit hunting, from the effectiveness and growth in the game points of view, you could just not do crimes at all and you wouldn't lose anything. And I think it's wasted potential to have another important feature in our game cycles, instead of just having a feature.
