I was looking in city hall at some random stats, and saw this: 150,383,536 Items trashed 38,530,273 Items found in the dump
Which means there are like 111,853,263 items in the dump right?
Well, Seeing as the world is so focused on saving the environment, maybe it would be good to bring that into Torn as well. not only as a way to highlight the issues in the real world, but also ... it would be kinda fun for all my fellow OCD/hoarders who HATE seeing that many items sitting around haha :P
I would think, Make it 1 energy per search during the event - that way it isn't a huge drain on energy and hopefully more people might partake in it. also, add a few merits for certain amount of items "recycled" etc - maybe even add a whole recycling system where by the number of items you pick up get turned into a new unique event currency which can be used to buy things.
New Merits: Green thumb: Find 2,500 items in the dump Eco Warrior: Find 5,000 items in the dump Tree Hugger: Find 10,000 items in the dump Greta Thunberg: Find 25,000 items in the dump Lucky Dip: Find an item in the dump worth over 1m Scavenger: Find an item in the dump worth over 15m
New city area/shop - Recycle Centre Every item recovered from the dump is equal to one recycling point. these can be used to buy limited edition items such as Honors, clothing, Weapons etc.
What does everyone think? any other suggestions to the idea?
I was thinking staging it in June time as that is when the World Environment Day is, but they are many other dates which might fit it as well.

Recently returned to the game after 12 months and trading seems to have changed alot ... Intruder was very helpful in explaining the changes and accept my trade very quickly. Highly recommend and will be using more often
After a long break from torn. I am back, and I want to resurface this idea. I've been thinking about it alot and what Ched said.
Instead of having people pick up the items. Perhabs for the week of the event a new option can be made, to turn them in for Dump Vouchers or something. Which can be used to buy other items are a temporary dump store, including maybe some honours, and some high value items too.
Run it like the easter egg event and others where by there are tokens avaliable for people participating too. Everyone loves tokens.
I know the issue of inventory being clogged up is very prominent but there is 100% a way to work around that. I do think this would be a great addition to the events we hold, and given the current state of the world and all the environment issues, it would be a good thing to try and achieve.
I made a suggestion ages ago for a new event, like a green thumb day or something. Time it up with the IRL climate days. Make it 1e to search the market for 3 days and make it an event that you can get tokens from and merits etc.
Seeing how nuts the world is with stupid eco protesters, maybe we should as a community do our bit and clean the dump ;)
Not to mention. I'm sure there are some valuable items in there somewhere. I would LOVE to see a value stat of what's in the dump.
