I won the 2020 Easter Cook Off. This morning I get a message from the admin Bogie saying this:
bogie: Hello. I am very sorry to say but your competition entry has had to be disqualified upon review, your ID was added in post production and therefore not a verified entry.
The rules for the competition are below and they say absolutely nothing about the name and ID being added in "post production". I made all the food I entered into the competition this month. But now my gold ribbon and merits have been taken away. What am I missing??
I'll make the damn cheeseburger again if you really need me to and It'll be on the same damn counter, I could even just take a pic of the counter where the picture of the burger was taken, this is ridiculous though.
Not to mention I was one of the first people to submit an entry for the competition and it was posted for weeks, no one during that time could've told me it wasn't a valid entry?? This is super frustrating.
Rules:
All entries must be submitted by 23:59:59 on April 20th, 2020.
All entries must include the player’s name, player ID, and the year in the image.
All entries should be of your own prepared food, although the optional inclusion of a recipe doesn’t have to be your own.
You may not use entries from previous years.
You may submit up to 3 entries, but please constrain them to a single post.
All entries must comply with the competition rules and Torn game rules or will be disqualified and will not be allowed to re-enter.
Prizes:
1st place: Gold ribbon + Honor bar + 1,000 points + Special gift
2nd place: Silver ribbon + 500 points + Special gift
3rd place: Bronze ribbon + 250 points + Special gift
The Staff member running this contest has no say in choosing the winner; all winners are chosen by Duke. Attempting to bribe your way to a prize by sharing bites of food will not work.
Hey everybody, I just recently won the Easter Cook-Off and several people sent me messages interested in my food so I wanted to share more of my work. I have a cooking page where I post most of the things I make (that look halfway decent) if you want to see some more.
Well it was my first competition so no the rules were absolutely not clearly explained to me. I believe and exception should be made allowing me to either prove the location of the burger image or remake the food itself.
But this wasn't clearly stated, that's all it needed to have been. My submissions were hosted on my own server and therefore retain the exif data from my phone with a timestamp. Also reverse image searching exists. Also I posted a picture of my same counter at home where I took the original entry.
Anyways, the staff member has agreed to let me keep most of the prizes so that is less upsetting, I really liked that gold honor bar though.
You can do reverse image searches easily enough. That image I posted for my entry is hosted on my personal website and not imgur so the exif data should still be intact showing that it was taken from my phone at the same coordinates that I am at.
Thank you. Pretty bummed. Don't understand why at all. In my eyes I followed the rules that were laid out for me and my entries were up for over 3 weeks and nobody said anything about it breaking the rules. I saw other entries with their info added in mspaint and I'm a noob so why would I think I was doing anything wrong? I feel like I got f**ked over.
This. Thank you. There is nothing to make me think that "In The Image" means that my information can't be added in post. If you look at an image, anything you're looking at is "in the image", you could write on a photograph with a sharpie and it would still be "in the image".
It is though, it's written right on the image. The rules didn't state it needed to be hand written and my entry was posted for 3 weeks so someone could have told me.
I disagree. I haven't photoshopped anything onto anything. I took a picture proving the location of my entry, it's literally the exact same counter and toaster oven in the background.
If I had known this I would have done that, or if somebody had told me this anytime during the 3 weeks my entries were posted........ I would've re-submitted. This is not my fault.
