Since over a month, Grimnuker has started paying back the 20b he took.
all the details , on what seems to be a happy ending to an unfortunate story in the first comment

Jan 1st 23 - Final update, as what started 4 months ago, is now put to rest, Grim has finished paying back all the 20b he was owed.
We can all now put a lid on this unfortunate episode, and as per our agreement, we will not seek any further aggression vs him or his faction.
Decent start to 2023 =).


Ayo gather 'round, i got the latest torn (mini) drama

This is a story, of a person called GrimNuker who has decided to sell our faction's company under our nose, betraying what was his home, friends and family for the past couple of years.

This wasn't a long-con scenario, its just the sad story of a person losing a crapton in the casino and opting for the easy way out.

Grimnuker was a member of The Wolverines for a couple of years now, slowly making his way through the ranks, and joining the council eventually, albeit not a specific role was assigned to him, he was mostly nice and active, chatting and sometimes even helpful.

Last month, one of our OG leaders, who ran the faction company was absent, and later on switched to use books for training, we searched for someone to run the company (Mining Corporation) in his stead, paying a hefty salary alongside other perks as well.
So GrimNuker had volunteered (i myself would have done it but i have no educations for it as i was not focused on that area) and was given the reigns, I mean why not, loyal member, been here for a while, yes he likes to brag about his casino winnings every now and then but who doesnt i guess, we didnt realize the casino addiction was extremely high, and what he earned he used to lose twice as much the following day or so.

At first, everything seemed nice, he took the advice supplied but the old manager and other leadership members and everything seemed to be going smooth.
Later on he missed some profits payments and claimed he put them in stocks as no leadership was around, it was ok, i mean, who's gonna scan 50, 100m? probably just a mishap.

Yes, there were some red flags ngl, but still, the sums were, as you can see, low, so we didnt really put much worry into that and counted on him to set things straight once he gets to it, after all, a long lasting member, a council member, you know.

So yesterday we found out he sold the faction's company under our noses. yeah, just like that, and that he was trying to sell it for like a month. what a shame.

This is the right moment to say that both Hillsend and Rifty are completely blameless, Rifty bought this company 100% fair and square and for a hefty price, without knowing all the drama thats being going on under the surface, and reacted like a true gentleman once the thing unfolded.

So, back to Grimnuker, after we caught up with whats going on, and after ghosting us for a good while, he eventually admitted to his wrong doings, without any will to change it of course, but admitted nonetheless.

Anyhow, if you are reading this, the company is again in our hands, all leadership have chipped in, combined with existing faction funds and the mine was rebought.
Thank you Rifty for a smooth transaction (+the extra storage xD) , it was refreshing to see a swift and decisive response by your side to the case at hand.
So the overall loss for The Wolverines is the original worth of the company (19.5b~ + the extra storage Rifty bought to somewhat a bit over 20b)


Last and least, GrimNuker, what a shame, to end your legit torn chapter over such a low amount (to be fair, most of you will reckon this to be a big amount, but it really isn't, most medium tier factions can cover this sum in a matter of weeks if not days, HOF tier factions can cover this in a matter of hours, especially with all those caches flying around)

You scammed 19.5b, of which you already lost half again to the casino, what a shame, acting like child during the entire event.
I will personally make sure, while its still worth remembering you, that you have 1$ scammer bounties on you for a good while.
You will be chained on, bountied, and bleed respect regardless where you end up, at least until, like i said, you're not worth mentioning again, Faction leaders that will accept you will be sent this thread as a reminder of your actions, and it will be up to them if to host you or not.

We all know those guys who set up their bazaars in a "certain" way, to deliberately fool unsuspecting players who pass through.
the good ol' DP / BoG , Xan / Vico soft scam (is that a thing? soft scam?) is pretty much known widely across torn, some do it most than others.

What i find funny about this is that they "build" on the other person being hasty.
Sometimes they trick new guys, sometimes they trick old veterans just being on a rush, but sometimes, just sometimes, they trick themselves.

Here we can see our dear old EliteTrades AKA altinova AKA Potion_Seller, a widely known scammer, a guy that usually has a different trick up his sleeve every other Tuesday, setting up his bazaar, and matching Vicodin price to Xanax, and Box of Grenades to DP, setting them up first on the list so that hopefully distracted people will purchase them instead of the real Xans/DPs.

But little did he know - he mispriced his own Xans (over 670 pieces!)

Somewhere in the middle of February, The Wolverines, set out on a journey to achieve what is currently known as the most grueling, sleep-depraving, time-consuming, home-breaking, life-cha... alright I'm done with the adjectives.

In any case, after 15 days, 15 hours and 2 minutes, out of the smoke emerged a ruthless, committed bunch of Wolverines, with their

merit at hand.
This - is their story:

So slightly over half a month ago, we started what would be Torn's highest respect earning chain up to this date .
Netting an astounding 769,025 respect which saw us moving up in several HOF criteria simultaneously

We love to say that we are decent fighters, but never were great at chains, in fact, around a year ago i think we dropped a 10k attempt, it was an all-time low for us, i mean yeah chains were on the way out, making room for the new Ranked Wars era, but still, its the bread and butter for earning respect and unlocking perks for any decent faction.

It all started when we tried a 25k chain at Halloween, somewhere at 22k someone (please find me that guy) said "hey why don't we unlock the 50k and try" , so we did, and we nailed it.
Going into this one even our optimistic Leadership (or as we call them around here, Leadershit) members were content with doing a 60-70k chain, after all its only Valentines day, you can only push with that Love juice for that long, as opposed to always being able to redeem treats for energy in halloween.

Our (bad) calculations said we should be close to 50k after 4 days of chaining, yeah no.
I don't even think we finished 25k by the time VD went out the window, so we were left with a long drag till 100k, which again, we were fine, and thought its gonna fail somewhere above 50k, which was honestly fine as we had also other events to prepare for
because not many factions have landed their first 100k attempt.

So here are the numbers, and statistics, and some personal words for outstanding members, who made this endeavor possible.

Top 10 Hitters -

These were arguably the people who pushed the hardest, using their own boosters, eeking out the most possible from the energy they had, while the difference between 3rd and 20th is rather small, still, a place in the top 10 brings respect to the person who occupies each of those spots.

Retal Kings -

Keeping a vigilant eye on the chain page, reacting without hesitation to protect allies and shutdown outside interference with our chain, while earning higher net respect from each hit for the faction.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T monsters -

Putting the faction's behalf infront of their own, opting to increase faction's stature over their personal gain via mugs / bounty hunting.
These are the guy who reached the 10k respect club (bonus hit subtracted of course).

And maybe the most important category, without it, a faction cannot walk a single day, sleep a single night.
The Chain Watchers -

This literally could not have happened without you guys, yes, there is no concrete way of measuring this, time spent mostly as an orange dot watching numbers running from 5:00 to 1:30 before hitting, but this represents our most dedicated, consistent, hardcore players (some names are faded out as they are now guesting at a sister faction for some R&R / fun) our family has.
Every name on that list above is the true hero of this achievement. Except the strange tree dude, he's just a weirdo.

Some Honorable mentions -

Austral & MJ_Cookie - you were the only 2 proper guests in our chain, and what guests have you been, setting the pace and tone from the get go, leading by example how a chain should be done.
Austral believe me when i say i tried everything to catch up with you, i know the restaurant is an edge but if you don\t have the activity it doesn't mean much, and boy you left smoke for all of us from day 1.
Cookie at some point i considered kicking you for having a pair a bit too big for us ;) catching every retal out there with extreme precision, god only knows I've done what i can to keep you guys around, whoever gets you in his or her faction next is the luckiest person in this game.

DesoAngel - fresh proper recruit, landing here in such a busy time, settling in immediately as if you were always a wolverine, this goes a long way with us.

Ratstar - You have already done a 100k with IMoTF, yet at times you were the most enthusiastic figure around as if you just discovered this game, unbelievable consistency and ice for blood in your veins.

Aviarcer - Covered, together with Jess and Ratstar our worse time zones, and when i say worse i mean DEAD. D-E-D. DEAD.
Coming in from our reviving faction, i always knew why you have been fast tracked into junior leadership.

Adam42092 - Did a 10k on VD with our sister faction, switch immediately and did a 100k with us, charging his phone in the truck in the middle of one of the biggest storms in the states, coming in late and making his way to the middle of the pack with ease. dedication? nah, he calls its Thursday ;) .

Chronology - the engine that never stops, pushed everyone, cheered everyone, memed a bit too much but hey, what else there's to do in 15 days of slapping the same targets again and again.

TheWhiteBunny - the Energizer bunny looks like a sloth on opium next to you, insane amount of dedication, you are what a true wolverine look like.. err or bunnverine , idk.

Regie - We all chosen to give you the 100k bonus, as the oldest Wolverine, you've been here through the good times, the bad times, the shit times, the extremely shit times and now once again to the good times, well deserved my friend.

Raelyn & Hesz - its amazing to me how these 2 been here couple of months but settled in like water in the pond, both well above the 1000 hits per member, without a single complaint, trucking all day, keeping the moral high, thanks for all the fun and games, it kept us awake (ac3to still wondering about number 4 btw let the man know will ya).

KingLouis - They dont know, only i know, maybe some others know, what it takes, the work behind the scenes. i know man.

Spikeman , Picklez, Xerox, DevilStar, Alarka - if this is what our ranks looks like, we can never lose, not on the physical side, and not on the mental side. you guys are rock f**king solid.

ULTRA & Starfire - the perfect couple, hit, chain watch, switch, repeat, coordination to the highest level, thank you ultra for being there when my eyes could no longer stay open, you saved us more than once.

Deansrule - you were always our top dog, and its fairly easy to see why, if this was one of those games in which you have to distribute quality points, you'd be the all-rounder.

Trumpy - 4 ODs in 1 chain is clearly a bigger feat than what we just did. thanks for sucking all the shite luck so the rest of us can go scot free ;)

I am probably forgetting many names here, because this chain was so long, and only so much has made its way to stick in my brain, but every single person who contributed and if only 1 single hit to this chain, this is because of you, and you fully deserve to enjoy this merit, lets all agree to never do this shit ever again.

I try to recruit all the time, mainly to find another moron to take my place.

Alot, by over 10m since i've joined, theres nothing good anymore to spend the respect on upgrade-wise and every faction above 7-8m has everything important maxed.

 

4 - how many hours per day did you spend on it? what did you love? what did you hate?

 

Quite similar to my sex life, used to be super active now im mainly dodging it, or doing it for a short time.

 

5- How much have you invested into the faction? How much of it was from faction activities (rw, OCs, territories)?

 

Plenty, been there for all major territory wars, mostly as a frontline faction, it drains your life, you guys thought elims pushes needs to be on time? Try facing 6 other faction leaders, co leaders and council sniping a tile.

I let my slaves valued council members run the OCs.

 

6- how much have you profited personally? if no profit, what have you done with the money from faction activities, and was it worth it?

 

This place isnt mine, so im not profitting out of it, unless you call the meds they give carpel tunnel syndrome profit.

My job is one day to find a person who does the job better than me and hand this place over to him/her.

Why "no fighting chance"?

You do realize at some point they were slightly over 7k ticket lead on us.

 

They are 4th in stats we are 5th.

So the leader was sleeping and didnt hold their hand throughout every second of the week?

 

Seems like a poor excuse, and taking alot of credit from apex, who kept coming out with E out of the woodwork.

Keeping your head down and teaching the

younger players how to turtle and handle stressful situations goes a long way.

 

And it will beat everyday a team who didnt have to face hardships, dramas and counter pushes.
