please let me know if you notice any errors or inconsistencies with Torn's combo chest solving mechanism I made this to practice opening combo chests and develop or compare solution strategies the link: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/466055827/fullscreen/
click the green flag to start the project and reset the total correct/incorrect counters click + or - to change your guess click Enter to set your guess when finished click Restart to maintain your total counts or click the green flag to reset them note: you can press Space to enter your own combination solution and restart the project to simulate various solution conditions when simple solutions are On (default) all randomly generated solution will contain unique digits like 582, 461, 219, etc when Off randomized solutions may contain duplicate numbers like 616, 449, or even more rarely three repeating digits like 888 you can click the eye in the top right corner at any time to reveal the combination
Anyone know if the current combo chests have solutions with repeating digits like 616 or are do all the solutions contain unique digits? I've seen conflicting reports which is why I added both types in this project. Thanks!
New player, new faction. Our first war was against a team that kept us in the hospital with ease, 15 of our 20 players were level 4 or lower. Immediately after that war ended we entered another war against an even harder team that we will obviously lose against. Myself and others have asked multiple times in Faction chat "what are we doing?" but the only answers we've gotten are "the results doesn't matter" and "we re testing something" Usually we don't get a response. We jusst keep being reminded to get back on the wall as soon as possible although most players are not participating. Two of our strongest have been offline for days. To us new players this seems like a strange strategy. So I'm posting here to find out if this play style seems legitimate or if I got asked to join some kind of kill farm disguised as a faction or something weird like that? I'm trying to be a serious player and good faction member but so far
Well, honestly if the tumblers didn't lock there wouldn't be lot of strategy left to use, it would become pretty easy. If you were guessing sequentially and the solution contained the last three digits of your sequence, like 978 then you'd have to do a 50/50 guess on the last two numbers but that isn't very bad worst case scenario :D . I saw that one occur while using the simulator.
Oh yeah, I FINALLY got 1 more combo chest earlier. They are easy now, I didn't even write down the clues like I usually do which almost bit me in the butt on that 4th guess lol
No duplicate digits, got it, thanks! Makes sense, if you turn that feature on in my sim determining solutions becomes very difficult.
As for the double digits, yes! I've seen people post that the best strategy is to keep building on what you find, trying to guess numbers. That is completely wrong because correct numbers lock tumblers and reduce your remaining chances to guess. Your real goal should be to not guess any numbers until the 4th guess then guess them all using clues from the 1st 3 attempts. Combine this with sequential guessing and you have a inning formula, opening 10 in a row is possible although sooner or later luck comes into play. At least with this method most of the time when you guess you are only guessing between 2 remaining numbers which is a 50% chance.
Running this sim I learned all kinds of stuff bout combo lock logic. Sadly I don't think I've seen a combo chest in game since like day 2 or 3? Lol, gotta love it!

Omg do I love Shoop? You bet I do. We just faced down a much harder faction in war and hired revives were the key. Once I work my way up into faction leadership we will keep people like Shoop on permanent retainer if we don't already. Fast, reliable, everything we needed. Thanks again Shoop!
superharold3 hit me up when I joined Torn and bought all my jackets until I got my bazaar open. No problems, always cool, I am grateful for stumbling into such a great hookup.
I did several trades with Vlad an everything went great for a while but I just did a 6mil+ trade and got mugged immediately as I was putting the cash into a ghost trade. edit: vlad just sent me the cash I lost but I'm gonna return it and move on.
Huge thanks for the swamp of private messages encouraging me to leave and suggesting new factions. I joined a great faction and everything is much better now. One of their faction rules is literally to try and answer questions for newer members and everyone is extremely helpful.
Yes, we have access to meds. We were also given some cash when we joined, I got 400k which I immediately spent before the muggings began. Thanks for the responses and the private invites to join new factions. I'm not going to desert my faction just yet though. Loyalty means as much as anything else in the game to me, gotta give it to get it. I'll just assume my leaders are new to running factions and are learning as we go.
