As anybody in the top ranks can tell you, a huge part of high-level ranked war strategy is to hire mercenaries to keep your own inactive players in the hospital instead of being farmed for experience. These races are often very fun, with 5-10 players rushing to open targets to beat the mercs. Whether this was an intended mechanic or not, it's awesome and and a new level of strategy to wars and a new layer to the Torn economy. There's one problem though, it's broken because the penalty for losing to the mercenaries is too great.
Simple Example to Illustrate:
Target X on the enemy faction can be hit and left on street for +10 respect and 20 minutes hospital time.
If Target X is hit and hospitalized by Mercenaries hired by the enemy faction, they can be hospitalized for up to 3-6 hours
This means losing a single fight to a mercenary loses your faction between 90 and 180 respect.
Outside interference isn't the problem, the problem is that their successful hits end up being somewhere in the neighborhood of 9-18 times more effective than your hits. Now that it's an established mechanic, there's no reason to not slightly nerf outside hitters. Which leads me to my suggestion:
SUGGESTION: WHEN SOMEONE ENTERS THE HOSPITAL WITH EARLY DISCHARGE ACTIVE, APPLY A .25x MULTIPLIER TO THEIR HOSPITAL TIME. (EX: 4 hours = 1 hour)
This will allow outside hitters to still play a large role in ranked wars, especially around chain bonuses, but make it way more difficult for them to hold down factions for hours at a time while spending very little energy compared to the warring faction. Please consider this as it will make ranked warring more fun and dynamic without ruining this really neat mechanic.
After a quick investigation by staff:

Along with five other "faction members" and a few other accounts used for outside hitting:
After a grueling 85-hour war, it does give us some relief that the cheater has been punished and their rewards have been removed. However, 30 days seems pretty light for ruining the experience of 20+ members of my faction and denying them their deserved RW rewards. so I will be waiting for him when he returns.
Do you think 30 days is too short of a ban for this scheme? What do you think the offended faction should get as compensation? (if anything)
UPDATE: After some more investigation, this is hardly Rocky's first time cheating in Ranked Warring. This was their third Ranked War win with the exact same multi-accounts.
One month ago, they defeated Pokemon City in a very similar 85-hour war. 3,156 of their total 3,924 points (80.4%) came from the six fedded accounts:
Their only win before this was against Accurate Hitz in their war beginning on June 6th. You'll never guess which six hitters scored the most points in that war. (2310/2836 total points, 81.4%)
Ultimately, these three wars won't do much aside from being a frustrating weekend for the dozens of players who wasted their time and energy on the losing end of unfair wars. Where I feel Rocky's real grift was, however, is in the companies he and his multi's owned. The most valuable being a 2.5 year old Grocery Store called Deliveroo (named after one of his multis, bold choice). Six of his employees are his multis, only four of whom were also in his faction.
This raises the question of how long this has been going on and how much money has really been gained through his multi-activity. It sure seemed like we were fighting a guy with infinite money. I would ask that staff take a careful look at this before allowing him to come back to a $9b Net Worth in 30 days' time.
Let the record show that GuyGuy123 has repaid nearly the full amount of his debt to the faction.
I'm extremely glad that it ended this way and that this thread can be left to die and friendships can begin to repair.

The Legitimate Family: A Diamond-Ranked Faction Network With Tools Nobody Else Has
Most factions run OC 2.0 on vibes. We run it on math.
Legitimate Business is a Diamond-ranked faction (Level 18, 69 wins). We've been around. Top 20 ranked war faction back when caches were actually worth something, led by players with years of experience in Torn. We know how to run a faction.
OC 2.0 optimization is new for us, and for everyone. But we approached it the way we approach everything: dig into the data, find the edges, and build systems so every member benefits. We recently built NEXUS, a custom AI operations system that takes the strategies our leadership develops and turns them into live tools our members actually use.
The thinking comes from players like oraN who've been doing this for years. The AI handles the grunt work: mapping every member's CPR against verified role weights, crunching thousands of target matchups for war, producing reports and briefings so nobody's guessing at anything.
If you're tired of feeling like your leadership is just guessing at OC assignments, you should see what we've built.
🔧 NEXUS: The Tool, Not The Brain
Let's be clear about what this is and isn't.
NEXUS doesn't make our decisions. Our leadership does. What NEXUS does is take the doctrine, formulas, and strategy that our officers have developed and make it accessible to every member at scale. It's the difference between a leader who knows the right answer and a faction where everyone can see the right answer on a screen in front of them.
Here's what it powers:
OC 2.0 Decision Engine
CrimeHub-verified role weights tell us which roles matter most for success. Every member on the crime gets an equal cut of the payout, but high-CPR players who qualify for critical MAJOR slots are always in demand, which means they cycle into more crimes and earn more through volume. The engine matches your CPR to the right slot instantly.
→ See it live
CPR Roster Analyzer
Real-time faction CPR data mapped against role weight thresholds. See exactly who qualifies as a Carry, Core, or Recon member across every crime scenario.
→ See it live
War Target Finder
For ranked wars, NEXUS pre-computes every member-vs-enemy matchup. You open one page, pick your name, and see exactly who to hit, in what order, with crack ratios, Fair Fight values, and throwable recommendations. No spreadsheets. No guessing.
Transparent Payout Architecture
Every war payout and OC distribution is calculated using published formulas. You can audit exactly why you earned what you earned.
This isn't AI slop and it isn't a gimmick. This is a full operations site with live tools you can click right now. We're building it in real time as we learn what works.
It's a new chapter for LB, and it's an exciting time to join. New members get the benefit from day one. Veterans are watching it come together in real time.
💰 What We're Looking For
High crime skill players who want to maximize their OC 2.0 income.
We are currently cycling Break the Bank (L8) and Blast from the Past (L7) OCs at a high rate.
- BtB pays $266M–$371M per success
- BFtP pays $100M–$175M per success
- Run continuously with faction-supplied materials
- 100% payout. Every member gets an equal share, every time
What we need:
- 70+ CPR on BtB MAJOR roles (Muscle 3, Thief 2). You'd be a Carry-tier member
- 50+ CPR on BtB CORE roles. Solid income, constant cycling
- 75–80+ CPR on BFtP MAJOR roles (Muscle, Engineer). High-demand, limited supply
- Players who understand that cycling speed = money. The more crimes we complete, the more everyone earns
Not sure where you stand? Our New Member Guide walks through exactly how the system works and what to expect.

Yeah, you're right, you should do it. Teach him a lesson.
I talked to both her and "RaidMachine" when she was trying to threaten our training faction. I would eat my hat if that wasn't a multi.
She's way dumber than she thinks she is.
Hey, you're the one who made a multi to simp for yourself, right?
Shocking that you're also a scammer.
Oh man wait out until you find out the money is fake anyway
Two weeks later and still only around a 10% hit to points from the point the change was implemented. Most of these negative comments have aged pretty poorly lol
Sure there is room for criticism, but this community is often rabidly pessimistic towards a game they obviously love. (And frankly is the best game of its type, with second place being incredibly distant)
IMO, the Torn community tends to give real "Negative review of a Steam game you've played for 10,000 hours" vibes.
...have even looked at the value of points since the change has been made?
Even after a ton of panic-selling in the 48 hours since the changes, the market value of Points still remains over $42,000, meaning points have taken a whopping 6.7% drop from the previous 45k floor since the changes. It could settle lower beyond that, but you can't say anyone holding points hasn't had a fair chance to sell.
You are out here acting like it's the Great Depression over a sub-10% market correction to a market no longer subsidized by the game for no reason. Flying flowers and plush will still be profitable, and new players' purchasing power will remain largely unchanged, with the prices of Xan, DVDs, etc. also deflating.
SIDE NOTE: If you bought a bunch of plushies for museum day but don't have $2B invested in the bank, you really need some basic financial literacy and are lucky to have only lost a small percentage of your awful investment.
2 WEEK UPDATE: Two weeks later and still only around a 10% hit to points from the point the change was implemented. Most of these negative comments have aged pretty poorly lol
Having read this for a minute, I think it's a case of something being against the letter of the law but not the spirit of it. The rules don't seem to be written with a 3rd party art auction service in mind, but they seem to be in the spirit of the game, why can't the rule be changed?
What the "Hurr, It's a Crime Game!" crowd seems to miss every time is that being a "criminal" does not also force someone into being a low-class shithead. In fact, most large criminal organizations throughout history have been very outwardly polite and civil, which is usually pretty smart as it often allows them to hide in plain sight. Very few things are more valuable to an organization like this than a good common enemy.
By running this scam on a player he knew had a disability that most of the player base would find sympathetic, your boy Shinraop made his own choice to make himself the perfect target for anybody with motivation for finding a common enemy to use as content for their own "crime game."
The concept of mercs isn't the problem. They make wars far more strategic and fun. It's just that their hits shouldn't count like 12 hits from someone in the war.
I favor a version that allows shorter hospitalizations from outside (I believe self-bountying inactive players is a valid tactic, and not being able to hospitalize them will prevent bounties from being collected.
Finally, I am in favor of any mechanic that discourages intentionally losing wars. There needs to be a punishment for losing. Maybe an entry fee?
I wonder who put those on?
