Are DB effects supposed to stack? A DB should provide 48-72 hours of hosp time and no Relentless scum is over 70 hours even though they got 3 DBs in 48 hours.

Pretty simply, I think the wider community would like to understand: Why are so many players getting away with breaking Torn's rules?

Playing Torn can be fun, and rewarding; however, it has been stained by the countless players who use multis, abuse bugs and RMT only to get a small slap on the wrist, and in some cases, no penalty at all.

We have had entire factions caught breaking rules on multiple occasions, only to receive 7-14 day federal bans. We have had countless users take advantage of multiple accounts to grow their stats into the top 500 in the game, only to have a 7 day federal ban and some cash removed. Nath is a great example, who achieved top 100 stats by using multiple accounts.

In the latest example, we have the entire Relentless faction who had their medical cool-down maxed out after helping respect slut for Chain Reaction. These players would not be able to leave the hospital as neumunes each require 6 hours of medical cooldown to use. The faction used Small Explosive Devices to change their hospital status from radiation poisoning to the SED hospital status so that they could be revived. By exploiting this bug, they were able to leave the hospital days in advance to continue playing Torn and training, which completely defeats part of the Dirty Bomb's effects. After exploiting this bug, they reported it discretely to Bogie instead of using the Bugs and Issues forum in an effort to prevent players from knowing they cheated. I created a post in Bugs & Issues thread here to learn whether an investigation has been considered against Relentless and Forged Through War; this was closed after Relentless derailed the thread.

If we look at it from a regular player perspective, the time and effort spent contributing to Torn now seems darkened by the fact that MONTHS to YEARS of hard work can be overtaken by a players who receive no consequences to breaking Torn's rules. Sure it seems funny to think about how MMCP are all one person, but realistically, what does this do other than encourage people to leave your game?

Where did the rules go, Ched? A game is inherently meant to be played by rules. What is 'fun' about letting those that break it get away? What is 'fun' about treating players unfairly?

I could go into so much more detail, but I think that's enough to start the discussion.

Since this was passed to Bogie I have four questions that I hope are answered:
 
 
1) Is SED-ing to cancel radiation hospital time a bug?

 


2) If it is a bug, have the effects of radiation hospital time been reversed for those who used this bug?
 
3) If it is a bug, has an investigation occurred to review the scale of this bug? For example, was this bug clearly shared to other Relentless members before being reported to Bogie? How many players used SEDs? How many used the bug at Relentless and did not report it? What was the length of time the bug was abused at Relentless versus time the bug was reported to Bogie? 
 
4) If it is a bug, has an investigation occurred to review players who have exploited this bug in the past (ie. FTW as they are the only other faction DB'd with new system) and have they been placed in fed for bug abuse?

Monarch is proof that players can come together and attempt to take what he have though - there was no such mechanic at the time of SA's/ JFK's prime. Eventually we may fight CRyPTo, Carbon, or any other merged faction.

As I mentioned to PMV I do consider JFK the best (& most historic) faction in Torn, I just don't consider their merger to be the most successful.

JFK's merger was 70 players and JFK's undisputed status of #1 happened quite a while after the merger, while NS's merger was close to 300 players and immediately moved to #1 directly as result of the merger and has maintained that position on the map with a significant core still remaining of M&C and JFA players while removing the "asshole" brand. Monarch could, and may still be, a more successful merger than NS, but a merger is equal amounts stats, personalities, and consistency at the top. NS has always maintained a 'standard' and refused certain players who don't align with our personalities, while Monarch openly accepted all personalities and are currently paying for it, again.

This is all opinions though, the best merger in history, or in the modern era, is all personal preference.

The rug pull in the past occurred while yours is still a hypothetical. If rackets stopped tomorrow the next group of factions would be at a similar disadvantage factions faced through JFK and SA’s prime. The current top 3-5 would remain that way until another system because it would be the only way to fight like players.

The activity is why you beat SA so long and your IRC bots were great - I remember them in the JFA IRC.

I do consider JFK the best faction on Torn, just not the most successful merger. JFK built themselves after the merger, not from the merger. I would be interested to know how many of the Vae Victus players were part of JFK in their prime.

Which is what makes Torn competitive today. If the stock market and companies were suddenly stripped any future players would never catch up to the current players until another broken system occurs. For most of JFKs prime there was no way to catch up.
