Perhaps I am bad at reading rules and FAQS but it's a little unclear as far as poker in Torn goes. To wit:

We're playing a crime game. So maybe cheating and collusion is OK in torn poker? That would definitely be the easy way out for developers. Probably would cause a lot of hurt feelings as well as crossing some sort of grey area line as far as exploiting bugs or doing whatever the hell those factions were doing to manipulate stonks once upon a time.

RL poker sites and their software go to great lengths to prevent this sort of thing. Ultimatebet scandal as the worst scandal (see threads onf super user status). Phone and text chats with just a few participants is enough in the long run to give an edge from someone who would lose 2 BB/100 hands to someone who would win 5 BB/100 hands. Three players colluding in a 9 person game gives a huge edge to those three even if they otherwise suck at the game. This stuff is hard to detect but we know that Torn is similar to the poker sites in that there is software being used to detect bots/cheating/improper behavior.


Is there sophisticated software being used to prevent TC cheating? From the horse's mouth: "we're not poker experts, nobody on our team is. We know how it works of course, but all of the nuances, details, perfections - these are lost on us, and there's not really anything we can do about that. Finding poker experts who are also front-end developers, back-end developers, or indeed fully qualified managers... just isn't going to happen"

This leads me to believe there there isn't the background in knowledge or in coding to prevent cheating. Hell, even the pokerstars and fulltilt people have trouble with this and i imagine they have a couple extra 0's in their budget.

So.... what is the case? i repeat myself: Is poker cheating "OK" in torn city? If not, how can developers develop these sophisticated systems if finding poker experts "just isn't going to happen?"



If we equate $25m in torn money to $5, the $12.5m/25m table is equivalent to a buyin of $250-$1000, or, a standard $2/$5 no limit high stakes online game.

this reminds me of a customer service job once upon a time.

it really didn't bother us when the low-budget whiners threatened to stop doing business with us and followed up.

we were more concerned about taking care of the premium customers who added value to our business not only by their money but by the presence of their kind and friendly attitudes which helped add to the good atmosphere people patronized us for in the first place.

I've seen some really long winded arguments otherwise but this is simply not how any game of Hold em works, anywhere.  Any card room, any home game.  There are no circumstances where a player is forced to pay an extra buy-in if the button has not passed them since their last action on the table.

well boys Im from Texas, where we had a Union vs Confederacy battle a month after the civil war ended and both sides had inklings the war was over. on that note, i am looking forward to one more hoorah.

not true. they are sitting out and insta-check/fold until they are out of blinds.

if these people are placing in tournaments that is a reflection of poor play of the other players. if this is happening to you frequently i might suggest checking all your hands and folding to all bets

echoing the sitting out. on the big poker sites as well as a card room player is said to be Sitting Out after not playing a hand. they are still dealt cards and pay blinds and Check/Fold until they are blinded out or return to the game.

During my life through of the seemingly endless grind that is the world, I've noticed a lot of older people...and at the same time, a lot of people who seem to be no older twelve years old. Maybe its immaturity, maybe it's old souls in young bodies...or maybe it's just my lack of awareness to how diverse the world is in terms of the average age of players. So to satisfy my own curiosity..maybe i can find out the general age of the players here in the city.

I recently deleted my old key after leaving a faction

Under Preferences and API keys I am left with a prompt that says
New key's name..... and then a drop down tab beginning with Public Only

The Add button is shown but greyed-out

I can not enter name into field. I can change from Public Only----> Full access and other options

Just cant name the key or Add.

how about get rid of the "Will you help us to improve Torn Poker? We're looking for your ideas and feedback, join us in discussions on the Poker forum" blurb since it's obvious nobody has time to write a few lines of code to fix some of the glaring problems, notably the sit out/pay big blind bug

reiterating the terrible and wrong game mechanics of making someone pay BB if they sit out and come back in before BB arrives. so aggravating. i gotta take a piss for crying out loud.

and since Im already ranting.... if you sit out and sit back in before the blinds would have reached you, you shouldn't have to pay the blinds again. seriously. this is simple game mechanics, man!
