Ik that it might be something that people already suggested. but just for the sake of being sure im posting this.
As of today there are lots of reason why people use drugs, either to increase their energy, get out of jail, or to temp increase their stats. Its save to say that drug usage in torn is general within the population. That said, xanax is by far the most used drug with almost 26k xanax used daily, whereas the usage of other drugs as vicodine, pcp, lsd is arround the 600-1000 used daily. Using the example of the Vicodine that is arround 624 used daily that a ratio of 43.3: 1 . Im not a mathematician, but it seems that either xanax is op, or the vicodine and other drugs are trash at their current state! Of course im not only talking of vicodine specifically but that was just an example.
Therefore my suggestion, could u please consider making some changes to the drugs in general as to make the other drugs relevant in the torn world. It seems that u guys have a potential to make something great out of it but somehow either find yourself unable or unwilling to make change to the drugs in torn.
Through the last few days there has been lots of interesting ideas onto how to balance different drugs that are already into the game. Im just going to literally copy and paste them as to give you some ideas that other players also have regarding how to make other drugs actually usefull in more situations making use of different game mechaniscs that are already in the game.
- provide a "focus" increase which would improve racing ability by a significant amount (like 3x racing skill) for 1-3hrs. Meaningful for race enthusiasts and competitions.
- focus could also work as a means to boosting respect gain. Think of it as a John Wick drug. Gain would have to be negligible in a single attack but significant over many, or on a faction bonus hit.
- provide a dramatic awareness boost which diminishes throughout the cooldown. Perhaps starting at 50% of the awareness book value and diminishing to your normal awareness value over 4-5 hrs. Useful for treasure hunters or non-hardcore players.
- drugs which negate specific weapon effects. Such as being immune to poison while on mushrooms, or immune to demoralize when on LSD (providing a new perk for SSL players.)
- a drug which boosts crime success rate by 5-10% (a range for unpredictability) but at a significant stay reduction similar to Xanax.
- drugs which boost working stat effectiveness (which affects company effectiveness but also other areas of the game, such as Intel helping computer crimes.)
-drugs which boost specific gym gains would likely be the strongest competitor to Xanax. Something like +5% gain but specific to only one primary stat. So when on a drug which boosts defense gains, it would not affect are, dex or spd. Long CD on these ones, like 7ish hours.
To end, just want to tell u that i personally love torn, and im just looking for its game play options improvement and in its lore. (its unlikely that all of the city will be hooked up in the same drug :p)
