You're right. And I definitely came to terms with that early in my career. The two people you don't want to see at your home are CPS and the cops, and sometimes people get both. I would just like to think that maybe, someone could get at least one bit of useful information. Because something else I've learned is that a lot of people don't do anything because they don't know what they can or are allowed to do. Idk. Thank you for the comment though.

I'm not going to say I understand your discern because I haven't been in your shoes, seen what you've seen, and had to deal with what you are dealing with right now. But I'll try to give you an honesty and upfront response from my measly, bottom-of-the-barrel position.

1. As someone who went to juvenile hall as a minor, I couldn't agree more. CPS deals primarily with family situations and never places children in juvenile hall. If that was the case at some point, it might be a state that does things much differently than mine, or a different entity altogether. If a child in the state's custody does go to juvy, they are still in the state's custody, so the state would still be the decision maker. This is where OHFLAC should get involved (but rarely ever does).

2. I don't know about the work of Dr. Childress or Gardner.

3.Half of the states in our country are "mother's first" states where precedent is set that the mother is going to be the primary person looked at and spoken to in custody hearings. It's grotesque, but just the way that the court system is set up. If a child is EVER taken custody of or placed somewhere, it has to go through the judicial system (that's federal). However, whenever a petition is filed by the state for custody of a child, if the parents are still together, both parents are set as "maltreaters" in the petition. Here, the court could make exceptions in that where the non-offending parent could choose to leave the maltreating parent, kick them tf out, force them to go to treatment, etc. However, if the non-offending parent does not do this, they are also seen as maltreaters because they didn't do anything to attempt to correct the situation.

4. I really am sorry that you're dealing with that situation. Have you tried to bring that up to the family court judge with maybe some witnesses or a protective order on your child's behalf? The main part of it is this. That is still your child, you still have the right to attempt to protect your child, and you still have the right to be the voice for your child.

Obviously, it's none of my business and might be out of place, but as a man who watches this happen on a daily basis, it tears me apart to see men thrown to the wayside and unable to do what they need for their children. Feel free to message me if you'd like and maybe we could brainstorm some possible routes of action.
