Well not new crimes apparently
People can self-exclude from the casino if they know that they can't stop themselves but with the uptick in third-party "games" along with RW cache gambling this really doesn't do much to help those with gambling problems. It's easier than ever, even with a casino exclusion, to blow all your hard-earned pixel money and a significant amount of real money in an incredibly small period of time.
The Newspaper article rebuffs the idea that it is advertising these third-party gambling apps because the specific one they discuss is no longer operating but it is still advertising the existence of these games which prey upon the gambling addicts of Torn.
I do not think the protections are sufficient to protect gambling addicts on this game and I'm not comfortable with the Newspaper tacitly condoning these third-party apps (at least as I read it). I recognize that there is an attempt to discuss both sides but I don't really think that helps problem gamblers as much as publicizing the existence of these apps harms them.
TLDR: The protections for gambling addicts are next to useless with the rise of third-party apps and RW caches.
Edit: spelling
Edit To clarify I'm not suggesting these things should be removed from the game, rather players should be able to self-exclude from opening caches and from the forums containing games of chance (which really should be the Gambling forum, not F&G).

Preying on gambling addicts
Update: I received this newsletter without changing anything on my end. It is only the Spring 2026 newsletter, which I did not receive. Clearly, Google didn't add this sender to my spam list. Considering the lack of a consistent schedule for the newsletter, maybe it would be a good idea to give an in-game notification, especially if you already know that there are problems.

Okay, I'm going to shortlist players, then figure out how to make it work.
GK: Neuer, Buffon, Schmeichel
CB: Puyol, Ramos, Pique, Ferdinand, VVD
RB/RWB: Beckham, Alves, TAA
LB/LWB: Cole, Maicon, Marcelo
CDM: Kanté, Makélélé, Rodri, Busquets
CM/CAM: Xavi, Iniesta, Seedorf, Zidane, Gerrard, Ronaldinho
LM/LW: Messi, Bale,
RM/RW: CR7, Beckham
CF: Kane, R9, CR7, Messi, Lewandowski, Suarez, Rooney
I've got two styles in mind. One possession, high pressing etc. The other more counter attacking.
Counter attcking 5-2-3 (3-2-2-2-1)
--------------------Buffon
---------Puyol, Ferdinand, VVD
Alves --------------------------------- Marcelo
-----------------Kante, Makalele
Messi----------------------------------CR7
---------------------R9
I was tempted to put Beckham or TAA as RWB for the sake of pings but Ferdinand VVD and Puyol could all ping a nice ball upfield.
Here we sit back with the front three staying high. After winning the ball the wingbaks run forward aggressively. The CB and CDM stay back for defensive solidity. Messi CR7 and El Fenomeno R9 with Alves and Marcelo overlapping, make up the attack, which allows Messi and CR7 to drift inside.
Possession High Press 4-3-3
------------------ Neuer
Alves--- Pique--- VVD--- Marcelo
--------------------Rodri
-----------Xavi-------------Seedorf
Messi----------------------------------CR7
---------------------R9
Neuer in for Buffon here as we play with a high line and no keeper in the modern age comes close to Neuer as a sweeper. Pique comes in as a better ball player, same with Rodri. Xavi is a no brainer if we want to play possession but I did struggle between Gerrard and Seedorf to provide legs and a bit of bite in midfield. For me the front three is objectively the best, R9 at his peak was up there as one of the best of all time and without injuries we would talk about him the same way we talk about Messi and CR7.
Here we are playing more like Bayern era Guardiola so very high line, very aggressive pressing, stifling the opposition while constantly going for the throat.
I think the counter attacking style wins cups and possession wins leagues more easily. If I had to pick one overall I'm leaning towards the 4-3-3 even though I love the 5-2-3.
Edit: changed my mind almost immediately I love the 5-2-3. I think it's way better balanced and rock-solid defensively.
They could have sold them back on the market at $450 thinking they big brained. I think that's funny.
It is kind of interesting that you can influence the price like this (assuming the spike is you) but you can't really extrapolate this to many other items for one simple reason.
These gloves sell to Big Al's for $600.
This makes this a penny-picker item, an item you can buy off the market and then sell to a shop to make pennies.
You didn't manipulate the price above its value.
You just shortened the spread.

We should talk about politics and religion in everyday polite society as a normal day-to-day thing i.e. with strangers.
I think that making these topics taboo (the old "don't talk about politics, religion, or money") contributes to division, tribalism, and the demonisation of the other side.
Yes it means having uncomfortable conversations but it's worth it.
eosar, you might be getting confused by the fact you can't attack a player that is already attacking you.
Sitting on players during RW has utility, it stops them from using med to heal, or crimes to self hosp/ jail.
The only player it stops the target from attacking is the player/s attacking them.
I'm up for it if it's not too late
Awesome, thanks for clearing things up
Have players that went abroad before travel 2.0 had their weapons and armour removed or are we meant to be fighting similar stat-scored players at a significant disadvantage?
Hiding in plain view mission( defeat a player in a random country) spawned for me this morning.
Is this not meant to be disabled during this phase of the travel 2.0 rollout?
I'm currently posting this with TornTools enabled.

Too little whimsy.
I have received all the previous newsletters, I dont think the problem was on my end. We'll see when the next newsletter comes through.
Same, I did not receive the spring newsletter
I didn't get the spring newsletter either, feeling pretty bummed about it :(

Broadly speaking, it takes money to make money passively.
The only other passive income I can think of requires skills or educations.
Coding Firewalk Virus is decent money with Edu and double with stock block.
Some jobs pay quite well (e.g. PSF and mining), much better with better working stats and some will require good working stats to get in.
Faction OC is decent passive income at the higher levels but you have to build crime skills and nnb to get there.
Other than that, it's back to the "takes money to make money" stuff of Bank, Stock blocks, Renting out properties.
