1- Why did you start/ buy the faction?
I joined Torn some 5 years ago and went straight to the PT family, but due to IRL, I went inactive almost immediately after. Then, when I came back a year or two later, I was overwhelmed with the changes in the game, including RW and the new stuff, so I tried to join a big faction to get the knowledge, but I couldn't keep up, as either they were too busy grinding their own min-maxes or I was a bothersome noob. So after bouncing around in like 2 HOF factions, I decided it was time to play the game on my own terms, pace and information available to me. Lucky enough, I found a bunch of friends sharing a common goal or attitude, and here we are.
2- how did you go about recruiting? how strict were you with kicking unsuitable members?
For a start, we don't recruit below level 15, as we are primarily a warring faction, and then we run a private flight club, so essentially level 15 is basic to us. We then proceed to check for activity, and thanks to tools like ff-scouter and torn intel, this can be easily traced. Our policy has always been, "activity is better than stats, but having both is a plus," and that's why we are very keen on these particulars. During the noob induction phase in the faction, we do an orientation of what to expect and what we offer, one of them being not going inactive for 2 days without notice, and that's really important to us because, again, the flight club, etc.
3- how much has your faction grown? over what period of time?
We started from scratch; that's 5k, respect, a little over 600 days ago, and what kept pissing me off was the thing about noob traps and the bigger faction blah blah blah, so our council took it upon themself to make sure we secure the max toleration perks first and then proceed from there. I'm happy to announce today that we have maxed the drug-related perks, but that's just it haha; with weekly chains having been agreed to, the other perks are gonna come in fast. We are now sitting at Plat II in the rankings, and it's all team effort. Many call us annoying because of our war tactics, but having no one above 1b stats at this level/rank is demanding, and more often than not, we face tough opponents, even with the new RW system. But the win rate is fine, and we are not slowing down on adapting to new tactics to win wars.
4 - how many hours per day did you spend on it? what did you love? what did you hate?
I never switch off/log out unless I'm sleeping; it is a very demanding job, but we gotta pay bills, yeah. I love my team, and most importantly the leadership, who I can trust to keep things running even when I'm absent. I hate losing good members, but it is what it is,
5- How much have you invested into the faction? How much of it was from faction activities (rw, OCs, territories)?
Iv'e not done much investing other than the $14m start-up cost. But with shrewd accounting and a good leadership team, our RW+OC+Flight-club income has propelled us to now owning several decent RW weapons and armour, providing subsidised xanax for training, providing EDVDS for happy jumps, organising weekly paid races, organising bi-weekly paid chains, and started loocking into company investments as well.
6- how much have you profited personally? if no profit, what have you done with the money from faction activities, and was it worth it?
Personal profits nah, but I'm an active person so my income from faction proceeds has been quite motivating. I've actually lost some $2b of personal cash trying to pay up faction balances after a banking error, but that's pretty much fine considering the bigger picture.
7- if you are an ex-leader, why did you leave?
Not there yet but the only way I'm leaving this faction is when we are moving to a bigger shell.
