I know the company because I was part of the starter team. In fact it was profitable from day1. It was sold with profit and now the next is selling it (very probably) with profit.
But that s not the fault of the sellers. There are many players who want a good running company, but are not ready to invest the time and effort to build up their own. So it is just some kind of service and the profit is the service fee.
I think due to your focus on LS you have neglected some general aspects of companies in Torn.
We have 2 kinds of companies in Torn: Companies with great perks and companies for moneymaking. (I know, some are a little in between, but generally you can divide in these two groups).
LS is a clear moneymaking company. And this simplifies many things. LS will be attractive as long as money earning is in line with other money earning companies. Therefore, I don´t see any danger that advertisement costs will go up in sky without any limits.
Employees will pay taxes up to a certain limit. If income in LS is far less than in e.g. oil rig, TV or mining company, the readiness to pay the tax will decrease. This process will automatically limit advertisement investments.

I m paying usually daily between 7 and 10 TCT.
1) My focus is crime. That´s first and most important aspect, resulting in working most of my Torn life time in 10*pubs
2) Additionally my complete booster CD is used for alcohol (and not the 1N or 2N ;) )
So 1&2 results in a strong increase of available nerve.
3) Preferring crimes with low "red propability": Cracking, highend Disposal and Arson (faction collegue prefers scamming instead of cracking, same progress)
4) Highend OCs. OCs are still boosting your CE very much.
PS: Busting only some, BUT very difficult busts only. Honestly I don t think that busts make a big boost.

Focus on crimes with nearly no crits, but most important: High level OCs. That pushes CE most.
