How is it scamming if the money was sent to the player by the faction, in error? They aren't obligated to give it back. This is Torn, that money is his now 🤷♂️
I also love that line: "we showed patience...and he took it as weakness. That is the only mistake here". Lol, obviously not - the mistake is: someone fucked up and sent shitloads of money to the wrong person!
With the current real-world...excitement...caused by Trump's trade war, I thought it would be fun to ask the community what the possible impacts would be in Torn.
Of course I'm not expecting there to actually be any in-game impacts, though the frankly bizarre 5% item market fee and changes to Bazaars suggest that devs could implement something if they wanted, resource permitting.
What I'm really asking is, if Trump's tariffs were applied to Torn, assuming it is a US-based city, what would that look like in game?
Would the price of Chinese Panda plushies and SA Xanax increase, having knock-on effects on lower networth players? Would import prices increase across the board, or would some destination's prices actually reduce or remain relatively unchanged? What about impact on the racing scene? Would certain cars become rarer/more expensive/more abundant? What about Uranium? Could the Stock Market actually crash?
Let's hear your thoughts and ideas!
TL; DR: what would happen if Trump's tariffs were applied to Torn?
So I've been playing for a while now and have seen a few updates during my time. I've enjoyed playing and think it's great that there's a dev team that is constantly trying to improve the game.
However, I think it's clear that there are some things that absolutely have gotten worse (i.e. Bazaars and Item Market fees), some that have unresolved issues (Ranked Wars, for instance) and some that do feel better (imo Crimes and OC 2.0, though ofc not everyone agrees).
It's also interesting to see an increase in concurrent players and (I think) new players, with what appears to be an increase in older players leaving/quitting.
All of these factors make it difficult to tell if the game is actually getting better or whether the constant changes have made things worse.
Title pretty much says it all. I'm playing exclusivrly on mpbile and noticed today that the Torn logo, link to wiki and the search options are all missing.

Made a bad decision and took a mid-war Xanax as I was about to leave hospital. Just as I thought my war was over, this hero shows up out of nowhere and brings me back into the fray. Thanks Gonny. 10/10.
Overall a positive change I think, as I personally feel that censorship of specific words (Fuck and C**t, for instance) creates more of a societal problem than it solves. Obviously the isms are different and should be excluded, as these are only ever negative.
However, I do have some questions:
1 - How will you measure usage to monitor toxicity/negativity changes? Will there be something quantifiable, or are you going more off of a "we feel this is happening" type approach?
2 - Does this apply to usernames as well? I ask because there are some usernames in Torn that are slang offensive terms for certain groups. It would be interesting to know any rationale behind not extending this change to names, if that is the case!

That's why I thought it would be a fun hypothetical 😆. Nothing IRL does matter here. I just thought it would be a fun thing to think about more than anything else.
Won't post in suggestions as I didn't intend it to be one, literally just a "if this was applicable, what could that look like"!
