Everyone assumed Omar Mateen targeted Pulse because it was a LGBT club until the facts came out that it was just one of the first few places that came up when he Googled "Orlando nightclub". The other places had armed guards or police officers, Pulse didn't. I think the MSM likes that narrative more because it obscures the real reason - Mateen looks to have been radicalized by ISIL and carried it out in their name.
100%. You can pull anything out of context out of the Old Testament, New Testament, Quran, etc. and have a problem with it. That's why you need to understand the historical context as well and not just piecemeal it.
