- Post in newspaper (Do you honestly think that's a viable way? what's the % reading it) - Post in the forums (It reaches very few directors and most times gets buried, not an efficient way for directors to view candidates) - Trade Chat? Really, with hundreds of messages flowing in? - Manually find people (easier to contact a director rather than a director finding a candidate)
Solution (Most straightforward thing ever):
Literally just make a page that people can list themselves as looking for a job. That's it.
What do I mean you ask?
- just go to your current company dashboard, choose employees. You see how all the employees are listed nicely with their working stats and levels? That is literally it.
- Another example is the bounty page, you see how its laid out very nicely? imagine you had to manually look for bounties!! Then why do employers have to manually look for employees? Why do employees have to post all over the place to get noticed?
The way it would work:
- Employee wants to get hired
- Goes to jobs list (can be in 'City' or somewhere in on the sidebar, not too sure about that)
- Presses "List as Candidate" * If you already have a job: Error Message (must leave job before listing yourself)
- Chooses the minimum amount of salary they are looking for * Maybe they should also choose which companies they are looking to be with (I can go much deeper into this with the developer in terms of design)
- After successful listing, directors would contact to hire
- If hired then the employee is removed from the list * Also maybe there is a 1 week expiry
Effect:
The directors' life would be insanely improved when it comes to hiring people, they just access a list of people looking for a job, maybe even filter out the stats or the amount of money a candidate is looking for.
This will cause extra competition upon release (if it ever happens) as stronger companies will offer more, but how much can they offer before their company starts losing money or just not making much. This doesn't seem as an issue and if anything this list will help auto-regulate the salaries across companies as a little more information regarding salary expectations is given.
*Coding Implementation:
I can provide a detailed pseudo-code to the developer if they like.
THIS IS A MASS MESSAGE TO ALL NINE REMAINING TEAMS
EDIT: For Illuminati and Short Bus members, I understand we have to hit each other to survive one more day, but we both know with PP in play, it does not matter whether we go out today or tomorrow, many of the Illuminati members and I will not attack Short Bus until 30 minutes before elimination, by then we would know if PP is actually beatable or not.
Since PP already has spies, and since its easier for all team leaders to just direct their members to this thread, I will be giving our tactics for our last fight with PP here.
All Team Members:
We as allies will gather at 14:00 TC time, i.e. THREE hours before elimination. Everyone should be stacked with xanax. Our objective will be to completely shut PPs top 200 hitters (first 10 pages). With all the teams stacked with energy we should not give them any space to do anything. If we do it right with proper revives we should bring them down by 3,000 points at least.
Illuminati - Short Bus - Pacifists will not only be attacking PP by leaving, but they will attack their allies and leave for points as they are in danger. The allies attacked will not be in danger at all.
The Tactic is:
1-Hospitalize Their first 10 pages/Onliners that have made attacks
2-Attack by LEAVING all other pages(11....50) so that we can cause -1 every 20 minutes instead of -3 for 4 hours
3-If you have very high stats, please focus on Pink Power's first 20 pages and choose some of their members to keep permanently in hospital, max their med cooldown
4-DO NOT ATTACK SHORT BUS OR ILLUMINATI AT ALL (We have low points as it is) stack your energy till the time we assigned
***Every team should be responsible for their own revivers (i.e: reviving their own top hitters or PP targets)***
I appreciate your cooperation comrades
Hopefully we make it count
Illuminati Council - Short Bus - Green Army - Original Gangsters - Mountain Men - Pacifists - Nerdz - Rebel Front - Ninjas
1- No such thing as an all women or all men team ((Solves the sex change loophole))
2- Player cap is at 500 members at the beginning until all teams meet quota, then increased to 750, then to 1,000
3- No players younger than 14 days can participate ((Or by participating they waiver their right to not be attacked))
4- Initial Pre-Comp voting system for the teams to vote for a leader and a co-leader
5- Private Alliance/Enemy Lists that players from the same team can view ((Lists are decided by leader and co-leader)) ((Obviously other teams can find out about this, but people already shout it out in forums)) ((This would just make it easier for all members to have a clear list in their faces to remind them))
6- Hourly Elimination points, every hour that passes by, the team at the bottom gets 1 elimination point, then the scores are reset for another hour, at deadline, team with most elimination points gets knocked out, meaning no reason to cause lag, and no reason for some people to wake up at 4 am to contribute at the deadline, all players from all time zones can contribute evenly, also allows teams to actively change strategies and maybe break alliances for survival and whatnot ((Murky's Suggestion))
Look at OG, 25 minutes and they are down by a 1,000+ points
PP people: "It's not over yet" , "we could still lose"
Chedburn: "Team up and take them down" (sort of what he said)
Yeah rallying everyone is a real piece of cake especially since half the active members don't even look at chat or forums, you messed up this event and I am sure you will have even less people entering next year
You also just had to change the scoring system as well didn't ya, The +2/-1 LEAVE and 0/-3 HOSP made sense, but no, lets get the scores up (They would have gone up after a day or two like last year), instead we have PP at 5,000 points with a scoring system that helps them recover easily
Also could have reset the teams before the competition started since we found out about the PP thing before elimination, but nooo let's not put things in order and keep it as it is
Genius move mate :S
EDIT:
I am a player that usually logs in 5 minutes a day, and I only become active around this time due to this event because of last year mainly.
When my team (Lettuce Win) got knocked out at 4th by Mountain Men by being 2 points off, I posted a thread congratulating them.
Jokes aside, I am not a sore loser, it was the best event ever last year even though I lost, and I have been on Torn for 4,000+ days
I will now be a much less enthusiastic torn player because I personally feel this event got ruined and it forecasts other ruined events in the future, especially since the admin knew about the loophole way before it started and he still did nothing
PP can joke about it, I don't take it seriously, and I don't blame them.. I blame Chedburn
EDIT 2: my post last year to prove I am gracious in defeat if its deserved: https://www.torn.com/forums.php#!p=threads&f=2&t=15983982&b=0&a=0
The script basically allows filtering potential targets for the elimination tournament and is created by one of our (keyboard warriors) members.
The script also apparently allows the creator to tap into the chats of the users which is useless since he/she would already have the "keyboards warriors" chat. However, if other teams want to steal the script, it's their responsibility as it is also for any member of keyboards warriors.
Ultimately, we bare the consequence of downloading third party content, script or whatever. The script was clearly made only for "keyboard warriors" as it states in its description and other people wanted to be smart-asses and steal it.
In my opinion it doesn't seem legal but it is the fault of people who installed it.
P.S.: I am a "keyboard warriors" member who didn't install it because I don't actually know who's behind it, and hence if it's trustworthy or not.
Basically its about creating a list which is similar to the bounty list, except people add themselves as looking for work with their requested salary and maybe also company of choice. Directors can then filter through the list to find a suitable candidate.
It helps both parties (directors and potential employees), but directors more I think. Either way I think it would make hiring/job seeking much much easier and straightforward.
Any casino on earth, online and in real life, allows multiple chips in the same position. Can we have that please? I don't want to bet strictly 1 mil or 10 mil.
Also, I have spoken to about 11 directors so far, and they're not just "agreeing", they actually love the idea and want it implemented.. Anyone is welcome to verify this by talking to any bunch of directors
It literally takes one 'if statement' in code to make sure only unemployed people add themselves to the list... that will solve the issue you raised.. Also the thread doesn't indicate if someone has been hired or not..
