It's not a matter of being thin-skinned; it's about taking a stand against bigotry and hate speech. Remaining silent only perpetuates the problem. However, I suppose it's simpler to turn a blind eye when u r not on the receiving end of bigotry. Finally, investing in stats can help you become more powerful and successful in the game—in a way, I guess. You can keep your money in stock, in your faction vault, in the bank, or in an item—Xanax, erotic DVDs, etc.—in your own personal vault, which you can get by buying a private island or castle. But on a serious note, I think the real risk of sentient computer programmes doesn't come from them taking over or ruling the world, but from unknowingly using them as surrogates for our own prejudices. I think it's less about a computer programme dominating the world and more about the potential applications of AI in our day-to-day lives. AI could revolutionise how we tackle so many issues, from medicine and transportation to public safety and healthcare, but in order to do so safely and responsibly, we must establish strict protocols and regulations so developers, researchers, and engineers don't create something that causes unforeseen consequences. Computers are just tools; it's up to us to make sure we use them for good. We need to make sure that whatever programmes we create are designed to benefit society and are not used to propagate already-existing biases or support oppressive narratives. I mean, if all else fails, we could always school them in a game of chess :P
