The Lead Up
Roughly 80 days ago, Steem started a faction called Anubis. It was your traditional no frills, 15 member max faction with minimal respect and no banner/tag to differentiate it from the hundreds of others that get pushed in NPC. Over time, It grew to full capacity and ended up with 11 members before it all became a steeming pile of defecation.
A couple weeks later, enter me, a lowly day 0 that happened to say "Hey guys" in NPC. As it happens, you get flooded with offers of factions, selling losses for anywhere between 10k and 300k, etc. One of the first messages I received was from a guy named JakeNoStateFarm, offering me a 75k bonus for helping them in a war that they were trying to win. Not knowing that a warring faction voided protections and swayed by the massive sum of 75k, I joined.
Within a day, I met one of the most notorious bounty placers in the game. How? He bountied me on day 5. I was told by Steem and others not to talk to him because it would make him bounty me more. Though that was super true, If I had, I might not be typing this up today.
War 1 went well. We won in a long, super drawn out fashion, taking it to 60 hours. Though I expected to make the 75k, I got way more, around 24,000,000 and a derringer. Steem told me that he was impressed at how well I was doing and wanted me to stick around. Though that confused me as I thought I was a full member, I was happy to hear it. Free money, a free weapon and a bunch of decent people? What's not to like in your first week.
War 2 went much, much worse. Our opponent, Eclipse was absolutely brutal. These guys made short work of us. The teamwork they showed in battle, the strategies in hiding their sitting ducks under eternal bounties... There was nothing we could do to win. Ohkostok, if you're reading this, hell of a win. Payout for this war was... well... bad. Less than 1m. The war was supposedly super expensive with revives, xanax and bounties. I figured, meh, we'll get them next time. I was right, but also very wrong.
Things go south
War 3 comes around and we come out on top in a massive way. With a win in approx 35 hours with half of our guys either under performing or straight dodging battle, it was nothing less that a massive upset. War payout for this one was slated at 40 million. Here's where the trouble starts. You know that payout? Well, per our buddy Jake, Steem was having issues selling the caches. He claimed that when Steem went to sell the caches, he was getting lowballed. Shortly thereafter, another member announced that Steem's wife was pregnant. I'm not a douche canoe, I'll give him some space. He's never stiffed us in the past, I'll go with it. Let's do it again! It didn't hurt when we got this message...
War 4 was nothing less than a rout for our opponent. In 25 hours, a crew of 11 systematically picked apart their opponent with ease. At times we would joke that they wouldn't even qualify for the losers cache. (karma...) Less than one hour later I get a notification that Steem had left the faction and that JakeNoStateFarm was the new leader. Logs showed that our co-leader (redacted to protect the innocent) was fired before the takeover. I asked jake what was going on and he sends me this on discord. He claimed that the caches were gone, weapons were gone, vault was empty, etc... He also goes on to state that he was given the faction to cover the payment for the past 2 wars due to an agreement between his employer at their trains selling ring. Now that I type this out, Jake is starting to look just as fishy... But hey, HE'S FEDDED AS OF THIS MORNING!
Knowing that I am now owed no less than 94m between hits for two wars and expenses, I reach out to steem. As of yet, he has not responded. I reach out to his new faction leader and got an encouraging message of "Yeah that happens."

So Steem is holding Scrooge McDuck levels of cash and goods that are owed to 9 of us. I'm owed a pittance of 94m, others are owed MUCH more. One of our guys decided to have a free stuff party in New Player Chat and quit the game publicly. The thing I didn't mention is that I was the lucky recipient of a parachute mid war. Sold it, stashed the cash to buy a private island. Did I though? Not on your life. I instead purchased 400 bounties on our buddy Steem, and decided it was worth sharing with you all to protect you from scammers like these knobs.
Remember Anubis. All those who were screwed will get their comeuppance. And seriously, Steem, Karma. Jake got his, yours is coming too.
