Figured I'd make it very well known that the prior war of SHAT v Cipher would've ended in a whitewash for SHAT due to Cipher not holding the capabilities to fight SHAT. Cipher could've possibly hit participation at best. Though - an agreement is an agreement.
However, Offertory has proceeded to block the leader of Cipher(b0rjara) & scummied them out of 20% of the loot share as per the agreed 60/40 split in favour of Cipher.
Whatever way this is spun by Offertory, the sender of illicitly gained mugged funds - the point stands - SHAT break ranked war term deals and are unlikely to be trustworthy - not like they already are given their long history of deceit and scumbaggery.
So apparently the master strategist over at SHAT has cooked up a genius plan: promise every fresh-faced recruit 150k to hit me, and then… never pay them. Not once.
Don't take my word for it. Straight from the victims:
Ga77opardo attacked me twice. SoulGlaive attacked me twice. You know what they have in common? They both lost. Both times. Check my logs - it's a beautiful wall of "attacked you but lost." Coyote, Draconian, Ly1a, Tyleer, Papi95, Raynor, Zaco… an entire volunteer army marched into the grinder for a paycheck that was never coming.
So let's recap the SHAT business model:
Recruit noobs with promises of 150k.
Send them to lose.
Don't pay them.
That's not "buying losses," Offertory; that's just being the loss. You're outsourcing your own losses to people who don't even know they're being robbed twice.
And the cherry on top? The one time she showed up personally: "Offertory attacked you but escaped." Escaped. Ran. The faction leader can't even close it out herself, so she crowdsources the beating and then stiffs the crowd. Truly the SHAT way; too weak to win, too broke to pay.
Genuinely, it's a little tragic. This is the level you drop to when your faction can't hang.
Anyway, Offertory do you want that 300k for the sweet escape you pulled on me? I hear you're in the market for losses. I'll even pay up front. Unlike you.
I found out recently, and I finally have the words to write this.
Roxi was the first person I ever spoke to in my Torn life. I was a one day old newbie and she took me straight into Dark Hearts without a second thought. That's just who she was.
We talked regularly after that. Countless conversations over the years. She was always there when I needed someone to talk to, and not just about the game. She was the person I turned to after I found my father dead. Instead of just offering words, she encouraged me to step back from Torn and take care of myself. What grew from that was a real bond, and we stayed close ever since.
Finding out she's no longer with us has devastated me. Some people you meet in a game stay just game friends. Roxi was so much more than that.
I still have a message waiting for you that you'll never get to read, Roxi. I think part of me will always be waiting for the reply. Thank you for everything. Rest in peace now. You're with Trip, and Dark Hearts really does hold some of the purest hearts out there <3
